Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

1:30:24, ave15:23, Laps- 10:47,11:46,11:52... walked the rest of the way :(

The payson Canyon Fox Club was on the move today.  Kim R, Tricia, and my sister-in-law Barbara headed up the canyon for  a beautiful cool 10 miler.  It was all well and good until I injured my calf muscle.  I don't think it's torn, because there was no "pop" like last fall.   Unfortunately, we were far from home and had no cell phone so I got to walk it off for 3 miles :(  This was good I think, because after Kim R saved us in her car, and I rode for a bit, and then, when I walked again, it KILLED!  It hurts something good right now.  I am going to ice it and take it easy today.  I am not sure if walking on it is a good idea or not.  Web info says to ice it and stay off it as much as possible.  I don't think it is torn, just really irritated.  It's definitely not charlie horse.

My family is at the Scottish Festival Bag Pipe Parade.  I can hear the pipe bands and they sound wonderful!  I feel badly that I will very likely miss my daughters competing in the band competitions.  I LOVE The bag pipes!

Ice as much as you can, and massage it as well. It will kill like the dickens but it will help in the long run. Hope it is not to serious. I can always work on it for you if you would like:)

I don't think it is ruptured, but it hurts. I have been kneading it and it is VERY tender. Do you work on Monday? I'll be in Provo at noonish :)

Hey- really stupid questions, can I run again when it does not hurt anymore? Yoga until I am healed? Nothing until I am healed? I don't want to do anything stupid ;) Well, stupider (do you like that conjegation) than I have already done :D

Have a GREAT saturday!!! I am back to the freezer for another ice pack!)

I always tell people to go with what your gut tells you. You would be fine to do yoga, just make sure you are good and warm before you go to any deep stretching. I will run through some discomfort but I can tell a differance between a potential injury and just sore tired muscles. But when in doubt take it very easy it is far better to take a couple days off and crosstrain then have to take a whole summer off like I had to last summer.

I just do massage out of my house. So you could stop by on monday. I should be home by that time. My cell # is 8303598. Call me and let me know for sure.

Thanks so much! If you have time, I'd love to come by. My massage therapist moved to Vernal :( I am finished by noon :) I can call you. What are you times and rates :)

THANKS!!! :D

I should be home my then, I play the flute with Sarah that morning but should be home. If I am not call me. If you come to me and you are super cool I charge 40 bucks an hour.

YEAH!!!! I will come to you FORSURE, and I will work on the "super cool" this weekend with the ice packs ;) Having children, pretty much sucked all of the "cool" out of me, but I can live with it. Not having to be "cool" anymore really takes the pressure off :D

Bummer! I hope the icing and massage help... I'm sending good thoughts from back East!

A Scottish festival sounds so fun, I hope you can make it at least for a little bit!

Nice work on your mileage!

Thanks so much Lucia! I am having a hard time with steps, so I missed all the fun, but I got a nap and the pip band virtually lives in my family room :D

I was excited to read your blog tonight when I got back from Fillmore, and was so bummed to hear about your calf! It sounds like to are doing all the right things, I really hope you are feeling better soon!!! Take care of yourself and I will be thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery!!!!!

Marion - so sorry you hurt your calf. Have you wrapped it at all to see if that helps. Take it easy - you don't want to damage anything too much. I spend three summers in a row in casts and that stunk!

From marion on Jul 14, 2008 at 16:51:06

Thanks Maurine! I have wrapped it (with an ice pack wrapped in there too) It really helped! Bummer about th three summers lost! :( How is your knee?
