My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

12:30 average for the running.  I am trying not to obsess about pace, thus I am not paying attention to the garmin.

The running part of this morning was great.  I woke up with a massive migraine and ran anyway.  This usually helps the head.  NOT TODAY.  Oh my gosh, I pretty much wanted to DIE the whole run.  Again, the legs felt GREAT and the running natural and NICE.  The head was a BEAST!!!  I can't believe my brain would try to ruin a perfectly good running day ;)

I took my first ice bath.  HOLY CRAP!!! 23 min until the ice was gone.  Then I showered in HOT and then took a hot bath until my legs were defrosted.  They feel AWESOME now :D

Question about order of events: Walk, stretch, run, walk, stretch, ice bath, hot bath, eat, session of yoga later in the day?  What do you think?

Runners are NUTS!!!! ;D  I have always know than I am nuts, now I know where I fit in :)

On your order, I would amend it to: walk, stretch, walk (just a minute or two), run, stretch (no need to walk at the end unless you like to, MonaFlash-James on the blog likes the walk after the run though, we don't agree on that), stretch, ice bath (eat/drink something during ice bath, you need calories asap, I usually mix up a recovery drink while my ice bath runs, weigh myself then down my drink then hop in the tub), hot bath.

Thanks so much! I was wondering about the food part. I will bump that up. I eat a banana orange smoothie and down my mama calm. I have always walked about .2 mile home since forever, I don't know why. Probably to give myself a chance to breath again ;D

What do you drink for a recovery drink?

That's a pretty crummy deal to have a headache!!! I think you are crazy, it is a wonderful thing to be!!! I actually iced my heels for the first time, and it seemed to help for the moment, but they are already talking to me! I have decided that pavement really really sucks and after I finish this running season, I will get back on the trails!!!!

From marion on Aug 09, 2008 at 14:32:32

I am soory about the heels! I found this website with a bunch of stretches for PF (which I KNOW you don't have) but maybe they will help you poor heels! http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/529/main.html

So, do you heels not hurt at all with trail running?

From tarzan on Aug 09, 2008 at 14:38:18

I personally would have eaten between each item. Sounds like a lot more fun.

Anyone want to take bets on when Les admits she 'might' have PF? (It still hurts her sometimes after trails)

From marion on Aug 09, 2008 at 14:42:16

Maybe we should have an intervention.

That's dedication to run through a migraine! At least the calves are cooperating! Enjoy being nuts!

From Kelli on Aug 09, 2008 at 17:43:02

Wow, good run! I am so happy that you are able to be back and running again, and that you LOVE it---pain and all. I need to take lessons on that...

I told my husband this morning, as we were walking up to the neighbor's at 3:45 AM to catch a ride, that runners are CRAZY! It is a totally unglamorous sport! The side effects are killer---but runners are a dedicated people, for sure (I am not counting me in this elite group I call "runners"). And to take an ice bath---seriously. That would have given me a migraine!!

YOU GO GIRL!!
