Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

Very nice run today.  I went really slow and enjoyed the 24 degree weather.  OK that "enjoy" part is a LIE, but it sure was beautiful outside!  The sun was out and the snow on the mountain was lovely!  It feels like dressing for battle to go out.  It takes me a half hour to get all clothed!  Tights, check, nylon pants, check, long sleeve shirt, check, another long sleeve shirt, check, socks, check, shoes, check, toilet paper, check, ear muffs, check, gaiter, check, rubber band for pony tail, check, garmen, check, gloves, check, sweatshirt, check, glasses, check!  Oh yeah- go to the bathroom again because it took so long to get ready that I need to go again!  Oh the joy!  I will really enjoy the tank top and shorts next summer!!!

Abs and push ups today!  Yipee!!!  No abs- I got too ill for anytype of situps! :(

This winter running is a real ordeal! Are you going to do the 15 miler Sat.? I hope so!! Way to get out there and conquer the frigid temps!

From tarzan on Nov 06, 2008 at 13:36:11

Yeah - I have to add time to check the weather when I get up too.

I usually only need to wear one layer (running tights) on my legs - as long as I keep the upper body warm.

From The Howling Commando on Nov 06, 2008 at 13:38:11

Phew! Too much stuff to remember for winter running! All other seasonal running is way better! Just get up and go! Glad your run went well! I just finished my paper so I'm going to go reward myself with a 2 mile jog!

From kelsey on Nov 06, 2008 at 14:56:08

Good run! I had the same weather here... plus 40 degrees ;)

But at least you get to see snow!

From JulieC on Nov 06, 2008 at 15:06:23

BRRRrrrrrr!! I felt the same way getting dressed when just last Saturday I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, who is Mother Nature anyway? I was glad I chose to wear all black the sun being out warmed me up just after one mile, phew!!!!

From Kelli on Nov 06, 2008 at 15:25:15

WOW, you really GET DRESSED!!! I just wore tights, a super tight (scary) under armour shirt, a fleece jacket, fleece ear warmer things and gloves. Scott wears the garmin, so I do not have to worry about that! WHAT AN ORDEAL!

It was FREEZING this morning! I was whining like a 2 year old the first mile, my nose was so cold and it hurt to breathe. But, I warmed up (even unzipped my jacket half way) and it was not too bad!! (I can not believe I just said that.)

Are ya gonna come again this week????

From Smooth on Nov 06, 2008 at 15:47:22

Marion, you are so funny!!! If it takes me longer to put on clothes/gear than the run itself, I would never go. I just slip on my Under Armour Sub-zero top and a pair of CW-X insulator tights, sunglasses and a pair of cheap gloves. If the temp dips below 20's, I'll layer a light jacket. If it snows of blows, I'll wear a beanie. I LOVE winter runs. I melt in the heat.

From marion on Nov 06, 2008 at 15:49:54

Les & Kel ( I shortend Leslie so I had to do you too Kelli ;) I only need six miles this week, so I am out for this week :( It's my cut back week :D

Ever since I have lost all the weight I am extra FREEZING!!! I wonder if I will adjust after a bit:) I just hate the "I'm too hot" in some places and ICE cold FROZEN in others! Weird! I kept pulling my gaiter up over my nose and then down again :)

Benn- yeah the paper is done! I always LOVED the big assignments to be out of the way!! :)

Julie- Mother is a psycho just like the rest of us ;) Hey Sat is supposed to be 58! Maybe I'll run at 4pm in my shorts :)

Kelsey- SHOW OFF!!! ;D

Maurine- I wanna be you!!!

From marion on Nov 06, 2008 at 15:53:37

Smooth- I think I need to go running clothes shopping with you. I think my tights and shirts may be a little whimpy!! Am I going to have to break down and spend some money on real runningoutsideinthemiddleofwinter clothes? Say it aint so!!!

From Kelli on Nov 06, 2008 at 16:05:47

IT AIN'T SO!!!!! Target. All of my stuff is from Target and it has been great!!!

From Smooth on Nov 06, 2008 at 16:13:39

Yes and no. Yes, you need to check out the real runnin'outsideinthefreezingcold clothes. Notice I say "check out". Go try them on, say at Sports Authority, Dicks Sporting Goods and running stores for size, style, and take note of the exuberant price.

No, you don't have to "break the bank" and spend that kinda money. I shop on-line. I got my CW-X Stablyx for $30. It sells for $98 in the store. The only drawback is, you don't get the latest. But you still get the greatest. They're usually last year's model and it's harder to match colors. I do the same with running shoes. I go through 5-6 pairs a year. I paid an average of $40 a pair shopping e-bay, runningwarehouse.com. I also check all the name brand web-sites, e.g. Adidas has a "clearance". Also make sure that the shipping cost is factored into it. I just bought a Nike sphere running jacket for $8 total, brand new. The tag still attached reads retail for $89.

From leslie on Nov 06, 2008 at 16:23:46

Holly stinking cow!!! ( my favorite Lori line) I am going to check that out! Thanks Smooth! I hate shopping so I never compare, I just buy and spend WAY too much, I will be more frugal from this day forward!

From marion on Nov 06, 2008 at 16:29:31

Smooth- you are BRILLIANT!!! Thanks so much for the advice. I need major help :)

From marion on Nov 06, 2008 at 16:53:31

TArget you say?

From Kelli on Nov 06, 2008 at 17:04:31

Yes, Target!!! They have great stuff and it is good quality. I have always bought my work out clothes there, and the winter ones are great so far! Wal Mart has great stuff in the men's dept, but not the womens.

I am looking for shoes online right now (thanks Smooth), though. You can not buy those at Target. I hate forking out the money for new shoes all of the time!

From montelepsy on Nov 07, 2008 at 04:34:06

Dang. I'm a cold weenie. Nice job running in the snow.
