Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

If yesterday was Molasses Monday, today was Turtle Tuesday.  I was officially VP (virtually pregnant per Sasha's designation).  I ran the flat route today.  It was really nice out side today.  David was home this morning, so I got to sleep in and go out very leisurely!  It is Mac's fifth birthday today.  He is so cute :D  He picked out Spiderman cupcakes with the bluest frosting I have ever seen.  Ah to be five!  He is turning out to be a great bike rider.  My two year old, Will, is the runner, I think.  He runs up and down the block over and over again, barefoot and in a diaper.  Maybe he has his Papa's genes.  My dad still holds several records in California from High School in track.  We are going to Ca next month where he is being inducted to the Hall of Fame.  Kind of cool, Eh?  Speed is in my genes, but I think it is being squished by my jeans!

Have a GREAT day!!!

Running: 38:06, distance 3.06, ave 12:27, best 8:30, Laps- 12:13(.36), 12:10, 12:22, 13:09(.69)

Marion, thanks for welcoming me to the blog. I LOVED reading your info. My guess is that you are a riot to hang out with!! 6 kids, huh? I have 5 and there is NO WAY that I could do 6!! You have my complete admiration.

Thanks again, and good luck with those striking blue messy cupcakes. :)

Thanks Teena! Each child I had KICKED my bum to no end! #6 sneeked in there. He was my only surprise out of the bunch. I found out on my birthday I was pregnant with him and that his due date was Christmas Day. My husband and I decided that the funny dates were all signs from God, and that I'd better get a grip! :D

Oh, and I am a HORRIBLE mother- I sent the MESSY cupcakes to SCHOOL!!! ;D We only do white frosting at home ;) Welcome to the blog once again! You are going to be great around here to inspire us polky folk!

Genes speed squished by jeans, your imagination has no limits Marion!

Mmmmmm Spiderman cookies, delicious!

So why the VP designation?

From jona on Sep 09, 2008 at 16:22:08

Nice workouts. VP miles are still miles, keep up the good work!!!!

Do you have any races planned?

From marion on Sep 09, 2008 at 16:25:11

Lucia- After Sarah's amazing 5k, Sasha decided that anyone who cannot do a 5k in under 34 minutes is "Virtually Pregnant", hence- I am VP :)

Jon- Next friday, Michelle is going to pace me to get a under 30 min 5k. It may not be a real race, but it is gonna kick my bum!!! :D

From jona on Sep 09, 2008 at 16:26:55

You totally can do it!!!! What day are you doing it, I will be waiting to see the report. I'm excited for you. GoGoGo.

From marion on Sep 09, 2008 at 16:29:39

a week from Friday. I have been so pooped from all the extra activity, I am hoping I will be feeling a bit more fresh ;) Just one day I want to have these fresh legs I hear about. Maybe I am too old for fresh! Maybe I should be happy with "heck- they still can move."

From jona on Sep 09, 2008 at 16:35:21

You will get there. When will your youngest turn 18? :-) You are so totally busy, it amazes me with all that you do.

From marion on Sep 10, 2008 at 00:31:36

Jon- My youngest will turn three in December, so that makes it about 15 years before my baby is 18. I'm 39, so I've got some time before I am actually really "old." I put "old" at about 80-93. Some people can't fight "old" very well, but there is no excuse for most people to be old at least until age 87.

I have no idea where that "old" thing came from. I must be pregnant like Kelli! ;D I wonder if being "VP" can have the same effect on my mind that being REALLY pregnant does? If it does- WATCH OUT HONEY! DAvid might not survive another pregnancy. He does great with the babies 'n stuff... it's me who is a bit hard to deal with.

From kellies on Sep 10, 2008 at 00:49:35

You did all of that in one day? You are incredible. I feel like a champ for getting in 40 minutes of exercise in one day and I only have 3 kids. You are a Rock Star just like Kelli. Good job today!!

From marion on Sep 10, 2008 at 01:11:19

Thanks Kellie :) You are a champ! I have six kids and require more time away to maintain sanity. ;) There is no such thing as "only three kids." Kids are a bit rough no matter the #, cute and all get out, but a bit tough on the mind, body and spirit!

From Kelli on Sep 10, 2008 at 09:23:09

WOW---you kicked some tail yesterday! Welcome to wonderwoman status!

I agree about the kids--it does not matter how many you have, every mom is busy! It does not multiply exponentially each time you have another one, some kids actually make life easier because they are good helpers! I have two of those.

From Sasha Pachev on Sep 12, 2008 at 18:20:06

You are VP if you cannot break 34:37 in a race. If you train at a slower pace, that does not make you VP.

Regarding kids, I like the saying that at two your hands are full, at three you do not have enough hands, after than it cannot get any worse.

From marion on Sep 12, 2008 at 19:44:15

Sasha- You are right about the kids! The only thing that gets worse is the food bill and the laundry ;D Oh... the laundry! How many loads of laundry equals a running mile? :)

From Kelli on Sep 12, 2008 at 19:53:54

AT LEAST 10 miles!!! Wow, that would give me like 100 miles a week. I am a superstar!
