My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

Is a lazy run the same as an easy run?  If so- we had an easy run day ;)

Kim R & I had a great run down Payson Canyon and around town.  The official "Payson Canyon FOX Club" has begun downhill training.  If you don't know what "fox" is referring to, see Tom's blog yesterday ;)  Let's just say, we are Hot to Trot! (and we smell like fox's when we get home)

The down hill was great.  My husband dropped us off at the hairpin turn just above Maple Dell (exactly 6 miles from my house).  We took Toms BRILLIANT advice, and ran with small, shuffle strides at a controlled, slow pace- no show boating.  After we got to the mouth of the canyon we ran the roads along the hill (above the canal trail) and then on the canal trail for a bit and then back the same way to the mouth of the canyon and back to my house.  We sat for a minute and soaked our feet in the creek in my yard, checked out our splits and drank some Gatorade.

Life is good.  If we are not too sore, we will repeat this again next week but with a bit more speed on the down hill.  We'll have to see how it goes.

I am planning on swimming laps and water running this afternoon at my brothers cool pool.

Time 1:59:15, ave pace 13:10, best pace 5:40, Laps (the running ones :)10:32,10:56,11:05,12:05,????,11:31,8:58,10:10,10:40 (there was a really pitiful, lovely, walking lap before the 11:31) [these are not true splits- many are more than a mile and some are less- the 8:58 is only .6, the 10:32 is 3 miles, etc) We had a couple funky stops- some idiot left a fire at beer can flats and an adventuresome potty break in the woods.  I need to press stop, these side trips ruin our ave pace.

-3.6 lbs from last friday! woo hoo!  I was wondering when my FAT was going to surrender!!! (oops I said the "F" word... sorry ;)

Good job foxy ladies! Did you stop to put the fire out? Only you can prevent forest fires! (like smokey...not robinson)

From Kim on Jun 27, 2008 at 11:21:33

Wait...you just added that last paragraph...Congratulations! 3.6 is awesome!

From marion on Jun 27, 2008 at 11:43:37

Yes- we did put out the fire as best we could. We put the smoldering logs in a cemented fire pit where they should be ok- I hope. I meant to call the forest guys, but I forgot. Oh no, I should have called them.

Glad to hear the run went well. Good job!

Hey Foxy lady, way to go on your long canyon run! Good you noticed the fire, some people!#$%, and you were nice enough to break your stride and be a good citizen!! AND 3.6 since last Friday!! I am soooo jealous, I have been pretty good for almost two weeks, I will be down some but not as much as I would like. I am going to WW tomorrow and then I am going to post the pounds I have left until I reach goal and then try and chip away at it, I am hoping that by putting it on the blog it will help keep me more accountable. Good job Marion!!!!

Thanks! Last friday was a pretty ugly weigh-in, but DOWN IS DOWN! in my book! You will do great tommorrow, and who knows with your speedy workouts, maybe your few "extra's" will scream and fall off too, just like I am hoping mine to do!!! I mostly want to get lower into my range for my marathon next year. I think it will help tremendously!

From leslie on Jun 27, 2008 at 15:10:01

I agree, I am sure if I had a sleek runners body, it would really help...hey, maybe next year at St. George we will be!!!! It is completely possible!!!

Marion

Are you planning on running the Speedy Spaniard on the 24th? Online registration is at runnercard.com Early registration ends July 15th.

From maurine on Jun 27, 2008 at 22:29:08

Sounds like a good run.

You could have eliminated a stop if you used the potty break to put out the fire. (Just an idea).

Keep up the good work.

I actually had thought of that. If only we were guys it would have been a most excellent plan ;)
