Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

My grandmother taught me to say nothing if I had nothing nice to say.

This ones for you Grandmother!!!

Kim R and I ran up Main street, up Payson canyon, across the canal trail/road and then back down Main Street.

Thought I should journal the run, imperfections and all, for future reference.  We left at about 8:10 am.  We walked really slowly for almost 3 miles.  We jogged a bit, my side shins, just above my ankles, were really achy and my calves were super tight again.  Finally we hit the canyon and walked up the canyon too.  That was not in the plan, but it was so pretty and all of my boys were camping and the girls were at a swim meet so we had no hurry to get back.  We ran REALLY slow back down.  I almost jumped in the creek to drink, but Kim kept me out.  I should have brought water, but I was only planning on 3.5 miles, so I didn't.  At the mouth of the canyon there were some new homes and I found a spigot and refreshed myself.

I am forever amazed at how some runs can be so great and others like pulling teeth.  Night and day.  I have been eating really poorly and am really going to make a concerted effort to make way better choices.  If I am going to be the runner I want to be, the one I think I can be, I need to focus on the quality of my food choices, not just the calories.

Grandmothers teach us good things! :)

However, I'll bet if you stop and think about it you have some good things to find here!

1. You got up on a Saturday morning and ran 6.7 miles! That right there is HUGE!

2. You ran with a good friend...again...HUGE! (not your friend, but being with your friend. eeek, careful how I say things.)

3. You ran up the canyon...AGAIN!

You go girl! You should be all smiles, no matter how awful you feel it might have been at the moment!

This was the start of your downhill training, right? I hope your legs aren't too trashed. Good job getting in a long run.

You are right Kim- and that is my favorite part about running. Even when it STINKS it still is so awesome that we do it at all! Thanks for you Merry Sunshine! I needed it this morning.

Michelle- yep, we ran the canyon wednesday too. Today we went SO SLOW that I don't think I could hurt anything. My legs were molasses.

Hi girl! Kim is a wise lady! Ditto! You did it! I was so happy that after my 10 miler Friday, I had no pain, todays trail run felt great, and Marion....speaking of food....I am dedicating this WEEKEND to having a healthy eating plan, I am always cheating on the weekend, and here it is Sat. after 4:00 and I am STILL being good. That is huge for me. I agree with you, if we are going to run, we have to eat right. Have a great weekend.

Thanks so much for your encouragement! I am doing good for eating too this wekend. I an very bad on weekends and I really want to not do that anymore. It does not serve me! (my yoga instructor is always saying, "let go of that which does not serve you." O wamt tp be "served" by my actions, not hindered! (how's that for a sermon)

Congratulations on the run. It was not what you wanted it to be - but it sounds like it was a success.

I too have been eating junky since I had to start buying junk food again to keep and 18 year old full (he is working heavy construction 10 hours a day and training for marathons and weight lifting on top of it all). I vow that starting tomorrow I will get back to counting my calories on www.fitday.com and eating healthier. If I break that vow - all the pounds I recently lost can go to Les.

You are such a good friend to give them to Leslie! I vow too- good fuel for me. I have been much better this weekend than I have been in the past. It is so hard to find the right balance. I just have to chill and put one foot in front of the other and do the best I can :)

I LOVE this blog! You guys are the BEST!!!
