Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

***WARNING***

The Surgeon General has issued a warning that EVEN reading about a slow run can be contagious.  The following run is so SLOW that it has been given the rating "READ AT YOUR OWN RISK" it most certainly will cause psychological damage and add at least a minute to any runner who reads these splits.

That being said, have a nice day :)  ...and thank you for risking your running career by reading my blog.

Time 1:04:05, ave 13:50, best pace 9:36, Laps- 18:07(.36mi), 13:36, 13:16, 13:12, 12:41, 17:31(.27mi)

The run was not great this morning. I felt old and achy.  I am glad it is done.  I did about 20 min of Yoga earlier this morning and I will get in some more after I water the plants.  The flowers and garden are looking good, but the lawn is a bit sad :(

Oh, it is nice to know I can blame my slow run on reading your blog!! It's all your fault!!! I am feeling pretty slow and pudgy these last few days! I am going to try a gel heel thing and see if that works, I feel like an old old woman too!

From marion on Jul 01, 2008 at 10:28:54

What is a Gel heel thing? lIke a shoe insert thing or where you eat tons of running gel and are healed?

From leslie on Jul 01, 2008 at 10:38:25

hahahaha!!! I have never worn inserts, but my feet are so tender, I am going to try some heel inserts. Maybe I should just go back to plodding at my comfortable 12 min mile pace and be pain free.... ahhhh, those were the good old days!!!

From josse on Jul 01, 2008 at 12:06:43

DO you have yellow patches in the lawn? If so you probably have bugs, I just treated mine. These slow run are absolutly ok. I think we get to hard on ourselves when we don't see faster splits (I know I do). I started not wearing my garmin onw my slower runs so I don't get all cought up in pace. The recovery run is just as important as the faster runs. They all can't be fast or our bodies will just break down and not want to do it at all.

From Kim on Jul 01, 2008 at 12:11:47

Enjoy the slow runs! It really does bring improvement also! If you keep trying to just go fast you are going to get injured or burned out and both of those options are no fun at all! Keep enjoying the healthy habit you have and live to run another day!

And just for you, I am going to run slow tomorrow and the next day! :)

From leslie on Jul 01, 2008 at 12:24:49

thanks Josse and Kim, we need to feel good about are slow runs!!!

From marion on Jul 01, 2008 at 12:47:40

Ok- I will enjoy them ;) Next week is recovery week (low miles) This week will be my highest miles yet, and probably my slowest week ever. I'm good with that. MUST LIVE TO RUN ANOTHER DAY/WEEK/YEAR/DECADE!

Hey Josee- no dry patches, just dry-ish all over because it has been so hot, the poor thing!

Kim- Enjoy your slow runs! It seems Tom kicked your hiney this morning :)

From Adam RW on Jul 02, 2008 at 18:41:03

I like the warning. Slow runs are good for you. A slow run or two (or three or four) a week will keep the injuries away. Kind of like the old saying about an apple a day...

From marion on Jul 02, 2008 at 21:51:41

Thanks- I was reading about all of the sympathy injuries and I was worried about sympathy slowness (is that a word?) I am growing into loving my slow runs as I start to have faster runs that make my slow runs slow. How's that for a very long confusing sentence?

From leslie on Jul 02, 2008 at 22:55:44

Makes total sense to me! I don't even have to have fast runs to make me appreciate slow runs. Slow runs RULE!!! I may never do a fast run again!( Oh, wait, I have never done a fast one yet, but if I did I bet I would appreciate them even more!)
