At mile 4 my chest started to hurt.  Somewhere around mile 9 my knee went ballistic and hurt enough to significantly change my form.  My neuroma hurt from 6 on. At mile nine my chest pain went significantly up.  Did I mention that it rained, hailed AND snowed?  I didn't realize that my hands were frozen until at mile 9 I went to get two little Tylenol out of my tights pocket and it took me FOREVER.  My hands had no dexterity.  If this report sounds a bit whiney, it's because it is.  I am finally warm, 2 hours after the finish and a HOT bath (all the water heater), soaked until the water heater reheated then took a shower until there was not more hot water again.

This is a 2 minute PR for me, but I was really wanting to see those teens.  It should have been a significantly faster race for me.  Well, it is what it is and there is nothing I can do about it now.

My clothes are SOAKED.  I am tired but need to keep moving for at least an hour before I take a nap and turn into a lump of lactic acid.

KimR- thanks for running the first three miles with me :)  You are such a WONDERFUL friend.  You did a GREAT job on such a TERRIBLE race day :p  We are such fair weather runners :)

Thanks for the cheers, Luz and Alice.  It was SO great to see happy faces and HOT chocolate :) xoxoxo

Thanks Michelle for bringing me in :).  It was SO great to pick off Rainbow coat, cat in the hat dude, green shirt girls, and orange skirt lady.  You saved my last mile :)  You are the BEST!!  Congrats on an AWESOME time :)  Way to kick a minute off your projected time!

Congrats on the PR--especially with all the difficulties you had--awesome job!

Way to go Marion! It WAS a crazy weather day! Tom said we all looked like drowned rats as we passed by! I am sorry you are having to deal with some health issues! But you PR'd in awful weather conditions and with health issues! YOU ROCK!

From Alice on Sat, May 01, 2010 at 15:34:14 from 174.23.101.185

Way to go Marion!!!! When I wanted to stop(a million times today) I thought about you being somewhere on that 13 and it made me more motivated to keep going!! Way to push through and get another PR. I am glad you wrote that because somebody commented on my post and I totally didn't have a clue what PR meant. I am learning so much! I really want to turn into a pile of lactic acid right now but I must go attend yet another wedding and it isn't even mine!!! So there was my whining so you don't have to feel as bad for your whiney post. :) Awesome run...way to go!

CONGRATS on your PR! WOW! That's some serious wet and cold you battled and still PR'd by 3 min. GREAT JOB! Hope you're all warmed and cozy for a well deserved nap!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, May 01, 2010 at 16:40:42 from 24.8.167.243

You got a PR in some really terrible conditions. You are amazing! Way to gut it out and finish the race.

From MichelleL on Sat, May 01, 2010 at 16:43:40 from 67.41.226.109

Nice job Marion. Sounds like everything that could have gone wrong, did, and you still got a pr, that's great! I hope your body doesn't suffer too much from this race. You picked off lots of people in the last mile, showing lots of heart. See you soon, chicka.

A race w/ weather like today should make you realize that you can do ANYTHING. A 3 minute PR on a half is significant, expecially considering the rain. You did great! I loved watching you come in. I wasn't as good a friend as Michelle who ran to find you and stay with you to the end...but hey, I brought the hot chocolate! See you soon with my boat load of food for your birthday. I was so happy making it for you! See you in a few! I think you did great today. Let that 'soak in'. XOXO

Oh girl, you had it bad! Huge hugs and congrats for toughing it out! You will have plenty of faster, happier and WARMER races ahead. Nice PR and good job enduring a tough day.
