No running today :)  18 miles tomorrow.  I am going to get some yoga in as soon as lunch is over :)  Man, is my house a MESS!!!  The Central Vac motor died and so the kitchen has not been vacuumed for weeks.  It's been swept, but I am amazed at how much gets missed with the broom.  YUCK!!!

Thanks to the AMAZING Luz, her sweet sleepless hubby drove us up to Vivian park for a nice run down the canyon to the lake.  The MAGNIFICENT Maruine met us at the trail head on Geneva Road for a GREAT run. OK, I am lying about the "great" part.  I pretty much wanted to QUIT the whole time.  Seriously.  I am a baby.  I am currently the MOST SORE I have ever been.  Giving birth left me feeling better!  Seriously.

THANK HEAVENS FOR WONDERFUL FRIENDS WHO WERE THERE FOR ME TODAY AND GOT ME THROUGH THIS TOUGH DAY!!!

Yes, this is the furthest I have ever run :)  Yes, I will be braging about it for a few days.

Oh wait, did I mention that we were SOAKED for the first 8 miles by RAIN!!!  I made the mistake of looking in the mirror at Will's Pit Stop.  I looked like a drown rat.

I am not nearly as winy as this all sounds.  I had better get stretching so I can move tomorrow! ;0

No wonder I feel like CRAP!!  This is my highest mile run on my HIGHEST mile week EVER!!!  Ba nah!

Maurine- The boys LOVE the cookies!  They have eaten them ALL.. almost.  They keep saying they are from Santa! :)

Ouch, ouch, ouch...

"Every step you take, every move you make..."

I told myself this morning than I only have 2 more super sore days in the near future, the 20 miler on the 23rd and the Marthon on the 13th of June.  I can handle it.  17 miles did not do this to me, but apparently ONE more lousy mile puts me over my magic "pain" threshold.  Every one who reads this and comments, must start their comment with "WIMP!!!!"

My sweet parents threw a surprise party for me last night at their home.  Dinner was of course amazing and it was so fun to see my friends and family.  Needless to say, I am SO tired from staying up WAY too late.  It is going to be major nap time after Stake Conference today.  I'd better go get some grub.  I was up 6.4 lbs this morning.  YIKES!!  Sore legs sure weigh a TON!!! ;)

Have a BEAUTIFUL Sunday.  I am going to really soak it in :D

Went on a nice walk with the kids while David napped.  Then I napped while they all ran around screaming and having tickle wars ;)

"Not quite EVERY step I take, Not quite EVERY move I make..."

I took some Aleve last night so I could sleep a bit better and it helped.  This morning I did not screech with every step down stairs.  Yesterday was pretty funny.  We had a wet bed that needed some attention, so I was carrying the laundry basket downstairs and created a traffic jam.  Some kids were trying to get up the stairs and others down, and there was Mom, crying on the stairs with a huge basket of bedding taking 25 minutes to traverse the stairs.  Oh, and along with the tears of exhaustion and frustration were involuntary shouts of "OUCH" with each step.  Good times!!!   Ashley (14) asked, "What's wrong with you????"  (Please add teenager "tone")

I am planning on a long walk this evening with David, maybe one after school too, ALONE or with the little boys.  Even they are faster than I am at the moment ;)

Happy Monday!!!

PS- I am really OK- Smooth and Maurine emailed me some GREAT encouragement and advice- THANKS ladies!!  I will write you back when I get home after lunch :)

I am HEALED!!!  It is a Festivus Miracle!!!  Let the airing of the grievances begin!! ;)

Anyway- I got up and could walk with my "normal" morning legs :D  I even could walk down the stairs with only a titch of remnant aches. :)  YIPPEE!!!  You all said I'd get better, and I did :D

I was just going to go for a walk, but the legs felt fine and so I ran.  I had a few steep down hill sections that I walked, just for the quads sake.  For the last mile and a half, the right quad was present, but not really to whiny ;)

I took Will in the jogger stroller and that was HARD.  The legs felt fine, but the cardio was tough, as much of the run was up hill with a head wind.  The temperature was BEAUTIFUL.  I am so happy it is Spring today :)  I am so glad that I am not broken :D

Lori Metcalf (MetcalfRunning) would love to host a Post Ogden Party at her home.  Anyone game?  She lives about 10-15 minutes from the end of the race.  She can also arrange a restaurant possibly, if that is preferable :)  Isn't Lori the BEST!!! :)  THANKS LORI!!!

I am devastated!!!  I spaced Hobble Creek 1/2 registration :(  It is full :(

Another zip-less day ;) but I am good with that.  I really love running and I REALLY love this weather and I REALLY REALLY love that my legs are okee-dokee, slow, but okee-dokee :)  I am going to survive this marathon training, probably ;)

Now that I know that I am not permanently broken, I will plan on 5 for tomorrow and 12 for Saturday.  Next week I will do 6,5,4,3,2, Ogden 1/2.  Next week will be dependent on how the 12 goes on Saturday, of course.

Lot's of love!! XOXOXOXOXO  I am SO happy it is WARM!!!

Very long story short, but we had a MAJOR miracle and did not DIE this morning!!!  Here goes:

Miracle #1  The young womens leader who was supposed to make the English Toffee Popcorn has never done it before so I said I would do it for her last night.

Miracle #2  I decided to speed up the rising of the raspberry cinnamon rolls by putting them in the oven at 5:30 am.  Thought I smelled some gas, but figured it was the popcorn?

Miracle #3 I decided to go back to bed and run after the girls did their fundraiser

Miracle #4  Becasue the chocolate would not harden on the popcorn, we had all of the windows open in the kitchen ALL NIGHT

Mracle #5 Kate closed the windows about 7 am

Miracle #6 Ashley and I ran a 10 minute errand at 7:30

Miracle #7 Did not get distracted with the Young Woman and came straight home to find the house FILLED with gas!!!!

What was going to happen-- I was going to go running for 2.5+ hours at 6am and my kids would have never noticed the gas.  Kate would have shut the windows and no one would have noticed the gas.  If we haddn't had the windows opened all night long we every well might have not woken up to have today anyway.

I, of course, tried to shut off the gas and could not- the gas guy came and fixed us all up.  Well, actually the stove is pretty bad off, so we are stove-less, but David's birthday is Tuesday so HE can get a new stove for his birthday :)  (I don't want a stove for Mother's Day ;)  The gas guy said they evacuate when there is a 1% reading.  It was 19% by the stove :(

My run was OK- I was pretty tired and my toe was driving me NUTS!!  I drank the Gatorade Endurance Maurine gave me at mile 3,6,8,10(1/2),11(1/2)  I ate shot blocks at 6 and gu at ~8.5.  Thanks Maurine :)

I did NOT get in to the St George Marathon.  Now before you say, "Oh NO!"  I am a tad bit sad, but mostly relieved :)  With all the new runner anxiety I am feeling about the Utah Valley Marathon, I think I am good for one marathon at a time.  I just want to get the the race in one piece, and get it all done :)  I am REALLY glad that some other runner who REALLY wants it got my spot :)

Boy, have I been fighting depression lately.  I don't quite know what my problem it, but usually when I do get it, it is many different things combining together to get me down.  I really wanted to skip my run, but I forced myself out.  It was a lousy 2 mile start, but not as zipless as last week.  I guess I do take some serious time to recover, good to know.  Then I decided that I need to just RUN FASTER!!!  SO I did.  It felt really good and cleared some of the cobwebs and gloom and doom from my mind.  It really helped.  One of the main contributing factor to my "little black rain cloud" mood has been only running 4 days a week.  My mind can't handle it.  I am going to run 2 on those days from now on and still bike too.  Oh wait, I have been bad a biking too.  Boy, am I am naughty girl!!! ;D

Now for the HAPPY STUFF!  As some of you know- Mother's Day was a real crapper :(  Mac (5) made me a lip gloss in preschool and Ford (8) made me a darling book mark.  THAT WAS IT!!  The bishop even canceled all the morning meetings and NO BREAKFAST, NO LUNCH, nada!  Not even a 'Happy Mother's Day,' except from my favorites, Mac and Ford- they are the best and will inherit any thing of value when I die.  Anyway, today is David's birthday... so, I thought "Sweet Revenge..."   But, then I decided to KILL him with kindness.  I took all of the kids shopping yesterday for a surprise party for him today.  We all got up at 6 am and made him a HUGE breakfast of all of his favorite stuff on his most beloved Camp Chef.  We let him sleep in.  Imagine that, I kept all of the boys away from our room so he could sleep (that would have been nice on Mother's Day).  I let Mac pick out his cake, a big white sheet cake lake with a trout jumping out of it ;)  OOOoooo.  It is cool looking.... if your 5 ;)  They picked out a wonderful pasta dinner and ginger ale, is favorite soda.  We will also have maqrgaritas and pina coladas too.  I was not going to rub it in at all, but he came over to hug me this morning while I was cooking, and I jabbed him in the gut and told him, "This is what you do when you love some one!!!' ;D  I am a little turd, I know.

Sorry I have not been visiting all of your wonderful blogs, but my internet has been really shotty lately.  :(

Did you know that real live Kleenex tissue is SUPER COOL! I always use plain old TP. It's a bit white trash, but it's just boogers! The Ogden Half was GREAT! It is such a beautiful course. My internet is a bugger so this is short. Thank you Lori & Bill for having me over for a great time! Lori you are the BEST!!! Carolyn, it was SO wonderful to meet you! Way to go on your BQ! Barry- I was so happy that we got to meet in person today. I couldn't find you after to see how you did. I did not push today, which was the plan. I really felt fine after the first 7 miles. The first three miles were the hardest. My right foot was pretty lousy. 2:3_/11:24, best 6:35, splits-11:36, 14:17(potty), 11:47, 11:21, 11:17, 12:01, 12:15, 10:41, 11:03, 10:58, 11:38, 11:05, 10:31

***Additional race report- For the first half of the race I was with the walk/runners. About half way through, I was able to lose them ;) My first walk runner that I wanted to drop was BIG Polynesian dude. At mile 6 I Pinked him ;) Next were the LOUD, mostly naked, TOO TAN, chubby chicks with bleached blond hair. I really wanted to catch pigeon toed, knocked kneed girl, but she left me in the dust about mile 5 L . For all of the parkway and streets, I just focused on passing everyone, just one at a time. I got grey Capri, peach top girl midway through the parkway. I was SO glad for the aid station with the LOUD music at the end. They were blaring AC/DC and it was just what I needed J . I wanted them to follow me with the music to the finish. I took fluid and/or fuel at every aid station except the last one. For the whole length of Grant, I started to push so I could pass everyone between me and the finish. There were two girls in the last quarter mile that were going to be tough to pass. I stepped it up and got them with a few feet to spare. The only bummer was that I was so focused on them, that I did not see the two girls on my right who passed me JUST AS WE CROSSED THE FINISH!!! :p

It was really hard to run this as a training run. I really had to fight off the tiny bit of competitive nature I have. I kept reminding myself what Carolyn had said, “This is just a training run with food!!” …and, port-a-potties ;)

After the race I was able to talk to Walter and Sasha and meet Dustin. For an extra special treat, I got to see Kelli and Kellie! They are SO cool and beautiful and FAST!!!! I may change my name to Kelli/Kellie so I can be them ;) I saw Allie, but by the time I got up to go meet her, she had vanished!!! L

Nice bike ride :)  Left upper outside quad was a bit grumpy at first, but eventually gave in ;)  I went WAY further than I have ever gone in my 60 minute ride ;)  I really wanted to run, but figured I should err (sp?) on the side of caution ;)  I had NO pain from the race :)  Just regular stiffness.  I think my body may like the 1/2 marathon ;D

Nice run this morning!  The left knee was a bit achy for the first little while :(  My ankles were the usual "achy after a race or a very long run," so that was okee dokee :D  I was pretty tired on the run.

I had a ton more to copy and paste in here but the clipboard is having a stroke or something.  I'll see if David can fix it up for me tonight ;)

I was POOPED for the WHOLE run today :(  It's really ok though ;)  I decided to not wear my orthotics and see if they were the culprit for my foot pain.  Not sure.  My calves were totally ticked off without them.  Anyway...  I am glad that I am all done with the run :)  I am glad that I have a new modem and can blog again ;D

We have a big family thing on Saturday, so I am trying to figure out if I need to do my 20 miler on Friday instead of Saturday.  I need to decide today, so I can plan for the rest of the week.  I really need this run to NOT STINK!  It does not have to be great, just not leave me crippled.  I am going to check the weather forcast too.  That will help me.

Pulling weeds, yard work! My feet are a bit sore, so I am giving them a break today.  I should not have worn my hooker shoes to work this week.  Will I ever learn???  I hate wearing my Birks to work.  I am all dressed up and then granola feet with purple toe nails :(  I bought some pretty EXPENSIVE shoes for work, but they hurt my feet :(

I am having a GREAT day and hope y'all are too!!!

(see Burt- I did not mention breasts once today... ok, I did not mention them 2 times)

So much for a perfect day :(  I went for a bike ride and a wasp/bee/stinging insect flew into my helmet strap and stung/bit me!  I high tailed it home as when I was a kid I was super allergic.  It looks OK, but is swollen and HURTS!!  I can feel my ear swelling up :(  I need to go find some antihistamine.

Yesterday, suddenly, there appeared a race starting line in front of my house!  I tried to find out what it was and had no luck until this morning.  I guess Payson is starting a new Memorial Day 5k :)  I ran the route at 6am and found the organizers as I finished.  The route is HORRIBLE!  It is from my house, up a very steep short hill, then up the canyon road for a mile and a 1/2.  Then it is a gradual down hill until the last 1/2 mile which is very steep for about .2 and then more gradual for the last bit.  Anyone who came for a good time is going to be very sad unless they are a billy goat ;)

I would have LOVED to have run this race, but I did not know about it until it was too late.  We met my family over at my parents for a yard work session.  He is still recovering very well, but won't be cleared for 100% all day labor until September :(  Anyway, we are home now and I am pooped.  I want to go run a bit more.  I guess I will.  I ate too many of these SUPER yummy Smore rice crispy treats and need more miles.

I have really been babying myself and need to get the cardio up a titch.  What are everyones favorite way to taper for a marathon?  Our 20 miler is Monday, and then I have until the 13th for the marathon.  Can I bike during the taper?  Swim?

*** I went out for another 5k this afternoon.  11:32 pace  It was nice and I feel great!  The creek is running and so I got to soak my feet :)  Yippee for spring :D

...deep breathing...relax.....

Starting today, I am going to do 20 minutes of mental rehearsing for the marathon.  I need to calm my anxiety.  I am going to plan for my marathon today and practice tomorrow on my 20 miler.  So far the plan is to gu every 45 minutes with water.  I am going to try this tomorrow.  I really like the gu and tolerate it well.  I especially like the gu with caffeine ;)  So tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow....

I would love to go for a walk, but the legs need some rest and it is pouring :)  I LOVE the rain...when I don't have to go out in it ;D

All righty... this run was AWESOME!!!  First of all, THANK YOU, Maurine, Luz and Anna Lisa!  You guys are the BEST ever and I love you FOREVER!!!!  Again, Luz's sweet hubby drive us to Will's Pitstop at 6:50 to start our 20 miler.  We ran from there up to Vivian and then back down to Geneva Road where we met and parked the cars.  Maurine and I did not get all the way up to Vivian as this would have put is too far over our 20 mile goal.  the weather was PERFECT and the company was BETTER!!!

I hydrated every 2 miles, starting at mile 4 and gu'd every four miles.  The marathon has water stations every 2 miles starting at mile 4 ;)  I only drank water on this run.  I am trying to see if I am gettng too much salt and if that will help with the MAJOR water retenion I have been experiencing.  I do have a little twinge in my left calf now and I am thinking that I need a bit of salt during the run.  So for the race I will gatorade at the aid stations that I am not gu'ing at.

After our run we sat in the river.  That was AWESOME.  I screamed at bit going in.  I bet some trail goers were wondering what was going on in the bushes ;)  After our river dip, we walked over to Luz's where her dear hubby fed us fruit and water as we stretched in the sun in her BEAUTIFUL back yard.

Thanks Maurine for the WONDERFUL bread!!!  I had a nice fat slice when I got home :)

I am off to get my day going :)  Have a GREAT rest of the day!!!

Rest day. :D  My experiment was a success.  I only gained 1.4 pounds from yesterday :)  On the 18 miler I went up 12.  Apparently I don't need as much salt as I have been taking in.  (I went up 4.2 after Ogden).  Yesterday, I drank only water and took gu or shock blocks on the run.  I did have a bit of a calf twitch yesterday and added some salt to my water ;)

I feel pretty darn good today.  I'd love to go for a bike ride, but I really think I need to give the bod a rest, so I will.  Tomorrow I will ride my bike and then Thursday take a jog.

Oh, yesterday, I had a tummy ache all afternoon.  It finally settled down in the evening.  Last night I did 3 sets of 25 arm exercises that Maurine showed me and 20 push ups.

***64 minutes of FABULOUS biking and BEAUTIFUL weather!  I rode further today again.  I must be getting used to it.  A flying somebody bounced off of my iPod earbud thing.  Dang it!  No sting today, just a thump and buzzz.  I am STARVING today.   :)

It is the PERFECT day for running.  Everything seemed to be working just fine.  I was a bit tired.  Mile three was spent walking as I had a STRONG desire to find a potty ASAP!  Fortunately, the police station showed up and they let me use theirs.  I said that they should let me use it as to save themselves from having to arrest me for exposure ;)

Hey- my daughter, Ashley's (14) team won the triathlon at the Jr High yesterday.  She is such a speedy swimmer.  She makes it look so effortless.  Her only competition was a year round swimmer who got the same time.  Just think what Ash could do if she had crazy parents who would drive her to Provo everyday to swim.  She hasn't been in the pool since last summer.  Oh well ;)

Here are my marathon plans-

#1 Anything less than 6 hours.  Yipee and Yee Haw!!!!

#2 5:19:00 (12:10mm) What I think it will be. (really between 5:30-5:20)

#3  5:0_:00- Not likely, but maybe and REALLY cool ;)

#4 Marathon best case scenario MIRACLE ....4:50:23 (11:05mm)

Are you coming to cheer me in?  You know you want to :)

Baby for sale!  Will just filled my central vac hose (50 ft) with water.  FILLED!!!  I picked it up and it was SO heavy!  Could not figure out where the water was coming from.  He told me earlier that he had cleaned up the water.  I ignored him.  He may be a bit of a bugger ;)  Good thing he is DARN cute!!!

oh- I dedcided that I am going to do a triathlon this fall.  I think it will be a great way to give the running legs a break and keep my fitness up :)  Plus our local pool is only open during the summer ;)  Does anyone know of one in September?

Nice bike ride this morning.  We are off to 6th grade graduation, lunch with our graduate, then the temple this afternoon and THEN to a dance/party for the 6th graders.   Busy day :)

I think I am settled on the "I Can Tri" in Sandy in September.  It is a sprint and I am going to work on getting my whole family to do it with me :)  Wish me luck!!!

Last night I did 3 sets of 25 arm things, bicept curls and 20 push ups and some yoga.

I went to the BEST training last night.  I really found myself inspired to get to my new weight goal.  I NEVER thought in a million years that I would really run a marathon... and secondly, that less than two weeks away from it, really feel like it was going to happen and be pretty good :)  I guess that I can do REALLY hard stuff!   I can stick to plans and rules and finish something that I start.  I can take the tools and skills that I have learned and apply them to ANYTHING, including losing these 25 pounds that I want to see gone.  (actually 33 :)

Thanks so much to you all for ALL of your support and kindness.  Thank you for the long runs when I am sure you had much better things to do.  Tons of love to you all!!!

I am off to cut some hair out of my boys eyes ;)
