I am putting my better happy entry up here above my cry baby entry below ;)  Well, I finally called Michelle after typing the below epic sob story.  She is such a sweetheart.  She came right over a dragged my sorry sad whiny bum out on a GREAT bike ride.  It worked miracles for me :)  THANK YOU MICHELLE, if I already wasn't planning on loving you forever, I am now :D  I have a call in to Brady to see if the elliptical & a spin class is OK.  If it is, I may crash Michelle's indoor workouts and take over her elliptical.  My other neighbor has one too.  I am going to ask in church if anyone has a stationary bike they are not using that I could borrow for the super cold days.  I feel much better.  I am working out my cross training plan so I can keep my booty from getting too far out of shape.

Oh and the BEST news this morning was when I got home from my bike ride I weighed 169.8.  I haven't seen the 160's since at least 1988 ;D  Woo hoo!

Sorry, this is LONG…

Bad news at the doctors office. What I had suspected to be wrong is wrong :( Since my hip wasn't healing like Brady thought it should, he grilled me more in depth about my hip. He had me draw all over showing where the pain is. I look like my three year old loose with a sharpie. He did a different, more in depth exam. As it turns out, for various reasons, I have TONS of scar tissue all over in the muscles in my hips, buttocks and on my mid right quad. I am not sure why this wasn't noticed before, but I am guessing that from what I had said before, and from his assumptions about that, and the ITB pain, he treated me thinking it was something else and now that that assumption is proved wrong, he took a closer look. The adhesions and/or scar tissue on my quad is pretty bad and my hip is not any better. My little butt head of a piriformis, which has been bothering me for 5 years, is a disaster. It seems the cause of this problem is me ignoring the issue for too long in my hip, thus the muscles in my hip tried to heal themselves and created scar tissue, adhesions. The ITBS is because the hip has become so bound it caused a rotation in my leg that created issues for my ITB. The hip pain has been present for 2 years.

So, Brady did a lot more aggressive treatments yesterday (ie PAINFUL- 90 minutes worth- I should have shaved WAY more thoroughly ;). I have a myriad of things I need to do to work on the issues everyday. Running is out for a while, probably a long while. I can bike, yoga and swim. I am calling today about elliptical. When I left the office I wanted to call David, but he was in meetings, so I thought to call Michelle, but I knew I would just cry. In case you aren’t like me, when I cry, I can't talk, so when I call someone crying, they either hang up because they think no ones there or if they know it's me, they think someone died and I can't talk to correct them.

I think I am upset for so many reasons it's hard to even identify them. #1 why didn't we figure this out 2 visits ago? (I know medicine is an art and not perfect). #2 Why didn't I take care of this forever ago? But how was I supposed to know???? #3 this is going to cost MONEY :p. #4 I just want to run. #5 I HATE cross training, too complicated. #6 I am not even some great runner with any hopes of great things, how do I justify spending all of this time and money on something I am marginal at? (don’t get after me for #6, my #4 negates my #6)

I know this time will pass and I will heal and run again. We will figure out how to help my hips be healthy, but for today and maybe tomorrow, I am having a pity party L . I am going to work out a cross training rehab schedule, so I can focus on what I CAN do. That usually helps me. David is very supportive and when I said #6 last night, in hysterical sobs, he just said that it wasn’t true and that I needed to get myself all fixed up. (He hasn’t looked at the check book since the furnace guys left yesterday L )

Too much going on this week. I hope you all are having a GREAT day and the BEST weekend ever at St George! I wish I could be there to cheer you all in J .

Chinese food is good, but the soy sauce really causes problems for me :(  Oh well.  I am fighting the cold my kids have had.  The thought of going biking in 35 degree weather makes me shake in my boots.  I think I'll do yoga and then go for a ride later.

Good luck to all you St George runners!  Send me a text when you are done.  I can't wait to hear ALL about your adventures.

AM 65 minutes of yoga.
PM- 30 minute walk on the treadmill  and 30 more minutes of yoga and stretching.

St George News-

LUZ BQ'd!!!!  I am SO proud of you, Luz!  You are my hero.

Scott BQ'd !!!!

Kelli got a 3:22!!!  Oh man, Kelli, you are SO bloody fast.  Are your feet all bloody?? :)

Mac got a 3:05!!!!!  HOLY COW!!!!

30 minutes on the treadmill walking at 6 incline, speed low.  40 minutes yoga and then massage.  I have been reading how to do self masage to break up scar tissue.  I have learned a lot and feel very confident that I can get rid of this scar tissue and keep it from plaguing my life ;)  I am still hunting for a stationary bike.

2 hours of biking, about ;)  I met Michelle at 5am to ride bikes while she walked and ran.  It was SO cold.  35 degrees where we started and 31 degrees on parts of the route.  a dog tried to eat us and there was almost "traffic" with all the walkers out.  As always, it was SO great to spend 0'dark hundred, or any time of day, with Michelle.

My eating has been out of control for the last 3 days.  Usually I have one bad day during the weekend, but this week I had three :(  I am going to have to get a grip today.  At least the chex mix and the coconut cream pie are gone ;D  I am not left with much that tempts me.

I will do some yoga once the boys are off to school.  I am a solid frozen block right now.  I had hoped the shower would thaw me, but no such luck.  I may be colder :(

65 minutes of yoga.  Dr appt at noon.  I really feel like I need to start running again, like 1 mile a day.  Brady is going to have to give me a really good reason for me to take another week off.  If I sound like a poop, it's because I have turned into one :p  I am officially rebellious and irritated.  The only thing that can sooth me at this point is Ben & Jerry or a run.  I have lost my logic and reasoning.  I am swirling into a pit of perpetually "pissed off!"

I am not as bad as I sound.  I have been watching the Simpson's Halloween specials with Kang and Kodos and the '96 presidential election.  I am losing my marbles..... ;D

Have a GREAT day!  I am off to shower, do laundry and other wise have a very regular day.

*** Dr report. It was the best of times, it was the not so best of times ;) I got GREAT news and not so great news. The “not so great” was that it will probably be 2 weeks before I can run again :p He said I could run, but if I want to fully recover, I should just wait a bit longer. The good news is that all of the self massage is really helping and making a big difference. He could tell and was pleased that I took on self beatings 3 times a day :D One thing that it did is, that as parts have healed/are healing, other injuries are surfacing. He beat the crud out of my right top quad into my hip flexor. The other hip injuries were masking this one. I can really tell that it was in bad shape as I was almost instantly nauseated after he finished. Deep tissue really makes me sick. Anyway, he gave me some hip strengthening exercises to do and another quad stretch and MORE self massage. I am actually REALLY happy because I am getting better and there is REAL light at the end of my silly little tunnel!

An hour of a GREAT walk with Michelle :)  She is SUCH a great friend :)  I am having the hardest time getting out and NOT RUNNING.  Everything is NOT RUNNING to me.  I am going to go bike, fine, but NOT RUNNING.  Elliptical is cool, but NOT RUNNING.  I made Michelle promise to not let me run.  Just a few more weeks.  I also talked to Josse today and she is going to give me a lesson on self beatings ;)  I am going to order a scraping tool today.  Now I will be able to bruise myself ;)

I am going to get changed from work and do an hour of yoga.

60 minute walk on the treadmill while watching Water Horse with the family :)  I am off to do some yoga and scraping :D

I had a dream that I didn't know how to run anymore.  It was HORRIBLE.  I ran a quarter mile on the treadmill just to make sure.   It felt like HEAVEN.

Oh, running on the treadmill in the dark watching a movie is sort of scary.  I was afraid that I'd get tossed ;D

Again, the blessed Michelle has saved the day. She ever so gently reminded me that I had not exercised yesterday, so I did, and this morning, I met her in Salem for a 2 hour bike ride extravaganza extraordinaire ;) It is 7:27 am and I am done with my exercise and all I need is a shower and a stretching session. I’d better head off to the showers while the troops are subdued in the kitchen drinking their Pero. I bought every hot drink I could find at the store yesterday. I am needing to feel the heat. I bought a really cool pink coffee mug at the breast cancer event on Saturday and needed some stuff to go in it!  It was totally awesome to get into the car after a 2 hour ride and have a hot thermos of sugar free apple cider ;)  Life is good!

The Pinky Swear New Year's Challenge:  Now 'till Nov 6th- 4 #'s, Nov 7th  to Thanksgiving 4#'s, AND the kicker, Thanksgivng to New Years 5 #'s.  That will put me at ~159 by New Year's.  Only 12 #'s from my lofty goal of 147.  Michelle does a great job at getting me to do what I am supposed to do.  I'd better get over and track my food for today.  1 light string cheese, one apple and 16 oz sugar free apple cider.

60 minute HARD bike ride from my house to Woodland Hills Drive.  I haven't gone this way since my injury because of the hard hill on the way back home.  I am really sick and tired of feeling SO melancholy!  It is really driving me up a wall.  I need to stretch and then we are headed to the temple tonight :)

.8 miles on the treadmill at Brady's office and 1.33 at home on the road :)  My pace at Bradys was 5.6 ?? on his treadmill (10:40, I think) and my pace on the road was 9:47.  I wasn't trying to go fast, it just came out that way :)  It felt SO good to breath hard and work HARD.  I almost got a BEAUTIFUL side stitch.  I feel ALIVE again!  The air smelled SO good and the sun was hot on my skin, (super white skin, blinding drivers).  Oh shoot, I forgot about all of the bruises on my legs.  Tonight when I can't sleep, I will add all of the things I am working on from Brady.  I need to stretch and head out to Jon & Kelly's reception.  I am SO happy for them!!

** Dr instructions-  add miles by the 20% rule ;)  I am SO glad it is not the 10% rule :D  For the first two weeks, 2 miles with 2 days of rest in between.  Then add 20% a week onto three days until I am at 6 miles a day.  Then add in the other days by 20%.

OK- now for what is my problem.  My right foot does this weird little dance when I run.  I have to focus on getting my toes UP and turned in a bit.  He gave me some drills to do during my run to help strengthen my inner thighs and shin muscles.

I AM SO HAPPY!!!!

5:30 am on "Bike" with Michelle on "Shoe."  I see Brady this afternoon.  I have a titch of hope that he will let me start running again soon, like today :)  And NO, I didn't force Michelle into a longer run on purpose, I just talk WAY too much :)

I just looked back, and July 31st was the day the ITB went south :(  As for the injury, I feel fine.  There is still a deep ache in my right hip some times, mostly night or morning.  I am pretty sure it is the hip flexor, very deep, very hard to stretch well.  Even though it is my right side that is "injured,"  I have been scraping and working my left quad and itb as well.  I have bruises all over my legs.  I look horrible.  Good thing it's not swimming weather ;D

55 minutes yoga.  I figured a good session of yoga today, after running yesterday was a good idea.  I'll go for a bike ride after our trip to the copper mine this morning.

Funny stroy from the Doc visit yesterday.  Brady was having me run on the treadmill to correct my funny foot move.  Anyway, he was telling me to do all of these different things to get me to run straight.  Anyway, I wan concentrating so hard that my face was getting all tense and my hands were all torked.  I noticed my hands and thought they looked funny so I lifted my arms to show Brady, who was behind me, what they looked like.  Well, to me they looked all crippled and cramped.  Upright and from behind, I was shooting Brady the Bird in full glory.  We were laughing so hard I was afraid I was going fly off of the treadmill.

**the last 1/4 mile was painful in the itb and up through the hip.  my average pace was 9:40 for the first mile and then slowed down for the second mile.  i am going to revamp my return to running.

90 minute bike ride with Michelle. As always, I am SO glad that she drags me out with her. I am really fighting full on depression and being very active works wonders. Michelle is the best friend, seriously!

I ran one mile on the treadmill. I am going to be doing my “come back” a little differently than I had planned. I am going to do 2 miles this week, one at a time on the treadmill. Next week I’ll do 3, 3 different days, and four the next, etc. Once I am doing one mile a day on the treadmill, six days a week, I will slowly add more miles. My logic is that I need to learn to run again slowly with my stretches, scraping and massage, to make sure I don’t go binding my hip up again. I do have some drills to do while I am running to help straighten out my left foot a bit. I am not trying to all out change my form or anything like that, I just want to come back slowly enough to make sure that I am addressing the core issues of my injury.

Have a GREAT day!!

60 minutes of yoga.

My hip was a little more tender last night, but less than it was Saturday and Sunday.  I just don't understand why my hip felexor is SO irritated.  Hmmmmm....  Oh, I did not confess last saturday that I had itb and hip pain at the end of my run, hence the revision of my return to running.  My first mile was in the 9:40's on sat, uphill :(  I am sticking to the treadmill to keep me on level ground and at a 12 mm pace for the next 4-6 weeks.  Trying to listen to my body is really hard when my mind/ego says GO GO GO GO GO!!!

Lot's to do today :)

45 minutes elliptical at Michelle's house.  My baby is really mad that I did not take him to "Mish-snells" house with me!  He loves her "fluffy" cat :)  He is now yelling at me that I have to take him over "THIS DAY!!!"

I'll do yoga, abs and push-ups this evening :)  I am working 3 meetings today, so I had better get my self in gear ;)

Oh, and I decided that if I can get to my goal of 147 and hold it for 1 year, I am getting a tummy tuck, hold the belly button!  The original deal, that DH and I made was that if I held my first goal weight for 2 years I could get one.  Well, I have done that and now have new plans :)  I am secretly hoping that I wont need/want one at 147 :)

1/4 mile warm-up. 1  mile run on the treadmill at 12 min mile pace. 1/4 mile cool down. Stretching.  Everything feels fine.  My beating by Josse yesterday has me looking like I have been beat!  Thanks Josee! You are the BEST! :D

I am writing while on my treadmill.  I need David to make me a platform desk so I can blog and move. My posture is a bit weird.

Boy this one little mile was WAY too hard!  There is a heat register right above the treadmill, man, and I sweaty.  I am probably still reeling from the Cougars bum kicking by the Horned Frogs of TCU.  Now for some stretching and work.

60 minutes of yoga.  60 minutes on the elliptical at Michelle's.  I REALLY like the elliptical.

I had a great time with Michelle, as always :)  She is so nice to entertain me and my 2 little boys.  The boys had a great time playing in all of her snow.

1 hot mile on the treadmill warming up, and running and who knows how many while I type :)  I do have a fan on me and I shoved a towel in the heat register :)

Busy day today.  2 parent teacher conferences, one cake for the teachers, work and I am sure something else. Oh yeah, present shopping for one of Ford's friends. I should probably squeeze a shower in there somewhere :)

We are off to a ROad Show practice, we are going to be the "Celestial" family ;D  We are cracking up at that one :)  Then sucker, soup and donut making :)  Good times :)  Oh yeah, I also have to cut all the boys hair right now :)
