Personal:

My Favorite Quote-   "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." -Harriet Beecher Stowe

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

Heloooo- The calf is feeling pretty good this morning. I am heading into another day of total rest, ice and really boring tv. I haven't watched tv during the day in YEARS! Was it always this bad? Maybe I'll hit the redbox?

I am spending my time plotting my return to running. I am formulating a plan so that I can still run an official half before I leave my 39th year. That was the plan, 5k age 37, 10k age 38, 1/2 age 39, and a full marathon age 40. My birthday is april 29th. We actually have tickets for Wicked on my birthday :D

I am SURE you will get in your half marathon by your birthday!! If you haven't done it by April 28th we will all come down and walk you thru it!!! No.... you will get better and do it in style!

Lucky you! Wicked tickets!!! So are you season ticket holders????

We aren't season holders, but our friends are and I am SO excited!

Marion - maybe you should take a whole week off and just rest and wrap that calf and then start back walking for a couple of weeks and then running.

yES mAURINE Sounds like the perfect plan :) I am for sure staying down ALL week (I may go see Dark Knight, though ;) How is your knee? Is it 100%

From luzylew on Jul 29, 2008 at 11:40:49

Make sure you've healed and then be careful in re-building your strenth, or else the problem will go on and on. If you do it right, and take care not to re-injure, you will hit your goals. Even if not by the time frame you originally set up. Just remember, running is something you want to do for a long, long time. You don't need to hurry. You just need to keep going. Get that calf back into order! Have a great day!

Marion - the knee still bothers me after 6+ miles. Starting to ice it each night and take vitamin I 3x per day for anti-inflammatories.

I also ordered a workout tape on healing the knees that was recommended in Runner's World. BodyWorksMD – Physician Guided Physical Therapy. It should be here any day now.

Did you make a dr. appointment? Often an injury needs more than just rest, it needs a work-over or two or three. Also a solid diagnosis can help you know how to treat it and how to prevent it in the future.

From marion on Jul 29, 2008 at 12:17:29

Michelle- no appointment yet- I really hate going to the doc :( My chiro is in Alaska fishing until sunday. I am trying to muster the courage to call yours- silly as it seems, i'm a bit shy and cautious.

Maurine- That great you can make it up to six miles! Yeah- hope the video helps!

My new plan is to (hopefully, after a week of ice and rest.. and a visit to the doc :) to walk for a week. Then the next week a little running and progressing from there as it seems prudent. I will continue with ice, yoga and massage daily.

Hobble creek is toast. Moab is the new hope in the spring if I can get in :D

I think I'd rather do the Provo City 1/2 April 4th-ish. Is that a good one?
