Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a marathon between April 29th, 2009 and April 28th, 2010 for my 40th Year :)

1/2 Marathon in under 2 hours

Marathon in under 4 hours

To finish in a single number (1-9) in my age division ;) I did this at Onion Days 5K 2008- I placed 8th!  Yeah!!!

I want to finish in the top 5 of my age division :D

I have recently lost a lot of weight and running is very new to me (I started running about 2 years ago).  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.

My new weight goal is to have lost 100 pounds.  I am quite sure I can get to about 93, but I am not sure about the 100.  The weight tracker is tracking my total weight loss.

Lap paces: 10:35, 10:59, 10:49, 10:30, 10:54, 11:10, 11:03, 11:14, 11:10, 10:42, 11:02, 10:37, 10:34, 9:18  Best pace- 6:03  Ave pace 10:55 (exactly what we were going for :)

I'm not quite sure how I ended up with so many laps, I thought I only pressed the lap button at the mile markers- oh wait, there was a potty break and 2 water breaks... that is probably it.  Anyway- not real scientific, but it really ROCKED!!

My official time was 1:52:??, but we started late, because my running partner was stuck in the potty.  Anyway- it's all good and I just wanted to be done in less than 2 hours.

Now, I may have my head in the clouds, but I am thinking that there is a very good shot at doing Hobble Creek in 2 hours-ish.  We'll see :)

OH- note to self- it was FREEZING when they dropped us off.  Just for future reference!

BUT!!! it was BEAUTIFUL!  Perfect running weather and temps!  WOW!  I really loved it and will do it again!

I did an major carbo load yesterday- rice and cake :)  Oh- my poor neuromas in my right food were KILLING me.  I litteraly prayed the last FIVE miles to not stop for the pain.  New shoes monday- 2 sizes bigger and quadruple E's.  Wow those bad boys really can scream!

Congratulations on the progress. Note that a half-marathon is 3.1 miles longer than a 10 miler. To go sub-2:00 in Hobblecreek you need to be in shape to run around 1:30-1:33 in the Provo River 10 miler. This would be quite an improvement over a couple of months, but not entirely impossible. It will depend on where your limits are. As a first step, I would recommend that you continue training consistently 6 days a week as you have been and race a properly measured 5 K in a couple of weeks to see where your speed is at. Or you can join us sometime for our run, and we will pace you at 9:00 pace until you can't.

Sasha- thanks for the congrats- considering we improved by 21 miniutes from 2 weeks ago, I am pretty excited. OK- about pacing at 9:00- do you recommend that maybe once a week-ish (i'd love to join you, when do you run? I have a hard time getting together with others because of my babies, they really limmit my away time, I gotta go when I can) I'll post my 5k in 2 weeks to see how I am doing pace wise. Woo Hoo- I am feeling mighty fine!! I won't be heart broken if I cant beat 2 hours on Hobble creek- I just want to be the fastest it can be without injuring myself ;)

We run at 6:00 AM most days at 339 N 1120 W in Provo. Usually 5:30 on Tuesdays. Sometimes it changes, check in advance. I also do a second run with my kids in the evenings as well, time varies, same place. How old are your kids? Maybe they can play with ours. We have boys ages 9, 3, and almost 2, and girls ages 7 and 5.

I can pace you through a 9 minute tempo run too, which I think would be much easier on you than going into Provo. And I live close to you. So let me know when you are up for it. The days that would work best for me are MWF.

My boys are 2,4,7 and my girls are 11,14,& 16. I bet I could make the tuesday 0'dark hundred run. I have to be back by 6:50 as the girls have swim team or bagpipes at 7am every day- The parties start early around here :) My boys would love to play with your kids. They love it when I run at the track. They think the long jump pit is heaven. (so far no long jumpers have beaten them up)

I really want to vary my runs, and boy do I find myself plodding along the same path all too often.

WOw all of these super cool runners are volunteering kill me, opps, I mean make me faster :) How did I ever get so popular ;) I feel so special! You guys are so AWESOME!!! (my family hasn't even asked how the race went today- I need the special attention. They will know the error of their ways when they get oatmeal for dinner and I boycot the laundry ;)

Down here would be really great! EArly mon or medium-early Wednesdays are the very best days for me. I have to be nice to myself on fridays because of "long run saturday"

Marion - awesome job on the run. Be careful on the half marathon because there will be lot of downhills. Make sure you train on them - otherwise you will set yourself up for injury or quad overload when running the race.

You ought to run up and down the Hobble Creek Canyon paths a few times - if you haven't yet!

Any training pointers for me? I run on a ton of hills everyday, but not like the canyon. I am planing to start doing my long runs up and down Payson Canyon to get in shape for it. I'd love some guidance!

Six days a week is in the plan (I have the year planned out- nuts I know, but it helps me to see where I am headed- very motivational for me)

OH wow already a differant picture. I have a genral plan for the next 3-4 months but only get detail with the next 3 week because to much can change. But I think it is good to plan ahead and set goals.

Yeah, a ton can change, and i am flexable (because of the yoga ;) I tend to push too hard and if I can make a slow and steady plan, I can see that eventually I will be where I want to be :)
