Beautiful  morning!  Clear clean air.  Perfect temps :)  It was 57 when I started :D

I am off to the Doc :)  Have a GREAT day :)

**Everything was great at the doc.  All of my blood work, so far, was a-1 perfect EXCEPT my HDL's!  They were SUPER low... in the WARNING range!!!  I am so irritated.  It must be genetic.  My cholesterol ratio was still good becasue my tri's and ldl's are so low.  I just can't believe it.  Anyway, I am now going to take supplements of my omega 3's and we'll check it out next year.  ARG!!!  Oh- my iron was fine, so a month on supplements seems to have done the trick or I wasn't too bad in the first place.  The rest of my results will be back next week.  The ekg was perfect, except the super low heart rate, WHICH WAS AWESOME!!!!.  It was 53, nervous and moving around.  My bp was great too, 100 over 60.

Have a good appointment with Doc! That temp sounds wonderful--I wish it would cool off a bit here!

Congrats on a relatively clean bill of health. I always get a kick out of the reactions I get from the nurses that take my pulse; they usually think something is wrong, retake it, then ask if I'm feeling alright...

From marion on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 12:49:26 from 71.213.119.157

Cool Nevels :) It was pretty awesome when he was going through all of the risk factors or things to do for improving the HDL's and I already DO them/don't do them ;) We are just going to have to chalk it up to bad genes ;) I guess it's a good thing I made MAJOR changes a few years ago, or I'd be headed for some serious problems down the road.

NICE run and AWESOME check up. Your blood work sounds almost like my son who's a very healthy and fit runner. His HDL was low too. He's taking fish oil supplement and eating fish as well. Your vital signs are awesome. Your heart is runner-strong! STAY HEALTHY!

From RAD on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 13:35:25 from 67.166.99.8

You are so stinkin' awesome!!! You are ready to kill that 26.2 miles!! I can't believe your RHR was 53?!? I've been told I have a small heart, so my pulse will never get that low :(

Was this just an annual check-up that they do? I've never had that stuff checked...now I'm wondering if I should? Not that I'm worried, but my mom does have high cholesterol AND I dislike nearly everything with omega-3's. How do you get this done?

From maurine on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 13:40:53 from 63.255.172.2

Great job on the checkup. You are in awesome shape. Sometimes you can beat the family heredity, sometimes you just have to beat it the best way you can. Both my parents had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and all my brothers and sister have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but by maintaining some degree of fitness all my adult life I have been able to avoid them.

I was told that I would be a Type I diabetic by 35 because I was underweight when I had each of my pregnancies and developed Gestational Diabetes - but have also been able to fend that off and they say it is nothing I need to be concerned about anymore.

RAD- I just went in for my yearly exam and the office does all of that. ;) vials of blood :p There are a bunch of other things that they are checking, but I wont hear until next week. I have to go in to my GP once a year for a refill of my thyroid meds. I never used to go because I was busy having kids and getting checked every which way all the time ;) I do need to get into see my OB for my girly stuff ;p Oh the joy!

Maurine- Great job! Healthy living works wonders for avoiding most stuff. The EKG showed no heart irregularities, so there is nothing to do, for now, about the atrial fibrillation :)

Smooth- Has your son been able to affect his HDL's?

From Smooth on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 14:03:34 from 71.36.64.213

He won't know until his next check up.

From kelli on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 16:08:40 from 71.219.83.192

The picture of health! Hey, Scott's ggod cholesterol is really low, too! Add in some ground flax seed to everything you make and eat lots of nuts, as well as the fish oil!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 16:11:39 from 198.241.217.15

Great check-up, Marion! Look at all the positive changes you've made in your life.

I learned recently that ground flax seed needs to be refrigerated. I had a box of it sitting in my cupboard and had never noticed that it said to refrigerate after opening, but sure enough, it does.

From marion on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 16:54:44 from 71.213.119.157

DAvid's is too low too, so I am going to be adding much more fish into our diet. I bought some omega 3 supplements at Costco and do use flax seeds. I guess I really need my avocados :) Another excuse to have one every day :)

Yes, flax will go rancid very easily :( NAsty :p

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:17:09 from 71.219.98.183

They actually sell some at Costco (in a HUGE container, of course) that does not have to be refrigerated. It has been sitting in my cupboard for 3 months and is still really good. Gotta love Costco.

From marion on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:33:31 from 71.213.119.157

Container of flax seed?

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:47:12 from 71.219.98.183

Yup, ground flax seed.

From marion on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:56:53 from 71.213.119.157

Coolio- How does it taste in smoothies?

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 19:21:41 from 71.219.98.183

I can not even taste it at all. I put it in everything I bake. They say flax seed has a nutty taste, but the only time I can taste it is if I just put it on my yogurt and eat it. BUT it is good.

The shirt lady called me this morning to find out what kind of fabric, but has not called back since then. I will call her tonight if I do not hear from her soon.
