Icy roads, stiff head wind, snow, dark; this was the first 2.78 miles.  Icy roads, STIFF tail wind, light; this was about 3/4 of a mile after the first 2.78.  Icy roads, light tail wind, high school traffic trying to kill me.

That wind was something else.  I was a knock you off of your feet.  I checked my garmin during the stiff tail wind and I was in the 8's and 9's.  It felt like someone was lifting me and pushing me along.  It was pretty cool, except for the crapy road conditions :(

I can relate to your wind story. One direction and you feel like Pegasus, the other direction and you might as well be on a treadmill -- run run run and get nowhere. Bravo for toughing out the elements!

Picturing Marion as Marion Poppins with an umbrella.

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 10:46:19

I like the feel of a tailwind--too bad you have to fight a headwind to earn the fun of the tailwind! Good job on getting out there and getting it done! How's redemption week going? I did good yesterday except for some caramel boyscout popcorn. Shoot!--but I didn't gorge myself!

From marion on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 10:52:00

Sno- the feeling was VERY cool with the tail wind. I sure liked it. IT would have been perfect if there haddn't been ice ;)

Maurine- Mary Poppins is my FAVOIRTE disney movie :)

April- I lost 3 pounds since yesterday morning, so I guess, I'll be ok ;) I ate really well yesterday. Today is off to a great start ;)

From Kylee on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 12:05:34

Hi Marion, Thanks again for coming to the funeral. I haven't been on here for a few weeks. I want to start running again but I need to find the motivation somewhere.

From Metcalf Running on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 12:28:45

Way to get out there even in bad conditions! You are an inspiration in so many ways :)

From Marion on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 12:46:29

Lori- todays run was actually comical ;) I'm glad to be of service ;)

Kylee- How are you today? The thing about running is if you can make yourself do it everyday, the day will go better for sure. I don't know how you are going to do that. I am so sad for you and wish I could fix it. Would cinnamon rolls help? We should call them SINnamon rolls ;) HOw about raspberry or orange??

From Sunnyrun on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 13:52:09

I ditto Metcalf! You are the best!!

Pokey-bum kicker???

From marion on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:22:36

Yes Burt- it's a new literary term. You'll find it in the next edition of Websters ;) It is defined as Poky- my speed, bum kicker- my great ability to kick peoples bums #1 because of my superior aim and skill and #2 because of my long legs. I've got great range! I hope this clears things up ;)

From Burt on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:42:16

Quite clear now.

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:50:22

Next time take a Red Bull, it will give you wings and you can FLY with that tail wind. I can run through pretty much anything, but I hate wind (especially when accompanied by sleet!)

Have a great day Bum Kicker!!!! How did you get it to do that, buy the way?

From leslie on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 16:17:05

Bum Kicker, I had the crappy snow too this morning, but you are right, you just have to make the decsion to run every day, so there is no question in the wee hours of dawn, just get up and go.

I am on a mission to find food, see ya.

From marion on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 16:49:24

Kelli- You can type whatever name you want in the name, just type your correct blog web address adn it will take whomever chicks to to that address ;)

Les- I hope you found some good food. I am craving some ;)

From Smooth on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 17:03:45

BK, you're a much stronger bkicker than me to brave the wind, snow, sleet and school traffic. I am SO SO SO tired of deciding where to run every morning. I need you to come kick me.

GOOD JOB on loosing 3 pounds. Keep up the good work.

From leslie on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 17:18:21

oh my, 3 pounds in one day, you were a very good girl yesterday! I just had to go get a fish taco at Lonestar, and tonight I am going to Pei Wei with friends. I will order something healthy.
