20 minute swim with David.  I ditched him at 20 and went for my run.  I wore my sports bra under my swimming suit and just toweled off and pulled on shorts, t-shirt, shoes and garmin.  It worked great except my shorts kept sliding down.  No cosmic wedgie with my new swim suit.  We saw Mackenzie at the pool.  She was making a serious wake with her pool running. :)

The swimming is getting easier all of the time :)  Running after swimming is REALLY HARD!  It felt nice to be so cool, though.  I was trying to come up with another speed work out and I came up with it today.  On my thursday run, after swimming, I am going to run the 3.5 at my 1/2 marathon pace. It will be REALLY hard, but this way I can hopefully be able to do that pace on race day :)  There is no way I would be able to do my 5 or 10 k pace.  We'll see how it goes!

I know that Mac has bought some cool red and pink stuff to wear for the marathon :)  Michelle has been to Dirty Joe Punsters for her prize.  This is gonna be SUPER FUN!!!

Oh my GOSH!!! I just got an email from a woman who's 3rd great grandfather was owned by my 4th great grandfather. Her email was VERY nice, but my heart just broke and I FEEL horrible. I cried for days when I found out that my family had slaves, but to actually receive an email from one of their descendants was very strange and made my heart hurt. What do I say to her????

From RAD on Thu, Jul 09, 2009 at 20:10:56 from 67.166.99.8

Let the past live in the past...move on and treat her like you would a descendant of a past relative. Her relative and yours had a relationship (you may never know good or bad) but both of their lives were touched by the other. Love her as you would anyone else, don't feel bad...leave the past behind and move forward with hope and love!

Nice workout today!! You are coming along GREAT in your tri training and I admire your ability to run wet - I could not would not in a suit!!! So excited to see you Saturday!

As a history major I thought I'd offer a word here;

Slavery today is considered unjust and rightly so. However one must remember that most of the founders of this country owned slaves. The first settlers in America sought to enslave millions of Native Americans and after they had died off from disease and overworking, moved to a better worker.. the African. Slavery has been around this planet since the beginnings of modern man. Most of the Romans and Greeks owned slaves. yes it was bad but you can't forgive the past. Especially when you weren't involved.

Driving through Canada last year I heard a program about how Canadians sought to apologize for their actions refusing a boatload of Asian immigrants in the 1880s. They turned them around and sent them back to India. Most of those aboard died or reentered a life of poverty and destitution in Indian. To make a long story short, the Canadian Parliament apologized and yada yada yada.. but we don't have the right to apologize for something that we don't know directly.

It was a different time. Now is a different time. Slavery sucked, but it made this country what it is. Without hardships there would not be triumphs over adversity.

Lol, if there is any one who is a sucker for peer pressure its me! I PM you so let me know if it's still okay for me to join the RHPC, it should be fun!
