How you like them apples?

goal- 5 mile run with a 3 mile tempo run in the middle ;)

I woke up at 5:30 and slipped in and out of awake for an hour.  I kept dreaming that I went running and missed work, couldn't find my running clothes, etc.  Finally I got up at 6:30 and nearly went back to bed because I was SO tired and did not want to run.  I am not sure how I got myself out the door. Another Festivus Miracle ;)  I did not want to go :(  So, I headed up the canyon road, sure that there was NO way a tempo run was in the cards.  Well, I finally convinced myself that a 3 mile, 12 minute mile tempo would be doable and liveable.  After a 1 mile warm up, I couldn't get my legs to move, so I went back to what Michelle said on one of our runs, "ta, ta, ta, ta," concentrate on your feet turning over more quickly, "ta, ta ,ta, ta."  I sang "Love is Spoke Here," sped up, to match my foot falls.  As you can see by my splits, I really don't tempo well.  I just get faster and faster ;D  I guess I am more of a progressive split runner.  I was really happy to know that my legs still work.  I was beginning to wonder.  My goal is to do speed work every monday.  I want to PR at Onion Days this year in the 5k.

Happy Monday :)

Great song to run to...NOT. LOL. You so funny Marion.

From marion on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:20:33 from 71.219.57.176

You have not heard our family sing it at FHE. We sing it in cut time and our 8 year old calls it "Love is Smokin' here" It's quite snappy ;)

From LuzyLew on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:28:11 from 208.187.197.42

Monday's are always so hard for me to get going. You got a great couple of splits in there missy! Way to go!

Luz- mondays are CRAP! I was supposed to do a 5 mile run with a 3 mile tempo in the middle. I need to figure out how to do that. My garmin is nuts and I just keep speeding up! I think one day I will explode ;) How are you feeling???

From RAD on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:31:07 from 67.166.99.8

Nice work Marion!! What a good idea to just concentrate on your turnover - I may have to steal that one; however, I may choose a different song :)

From marion on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:35:47 from 71.219.57.176

No body likes my song :( It is great sung in cut time with a sort of rap rhythm... or like a chorister who had caffeine for breakfast ;).... or like a mother trying to get FHE over faster :) The funny thing is that at girls camp, David was wondering why the song, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" was SO slow. I always sing everything SO fast at FHE ;)

I know, I can't believe you picked Monday to do the work outs (but it is the day after resting, so....). My Garmin is always nutty. I think it's the battery. It dies in the middle of running and is often off by .2 Since I ran with Mile's watch at UVM, I've been using my Ironman watch and just timing "Laps". Anyway-- I'm better. I ate so much good food over the weekend, and rested up a storm. So today felt great.

From marion on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:39:37 from 71.219.57.176

So Luz- you are telling me that ALL the CRAP I ate over the weekend makes me feel yucky and if I ate better, Monday would feel better???? ;D Where have I heard this before???

I have a CRAP hang over??? I am glad you feel great! I just ate caramel corn for lunch and want to THROW UP!!! I am going vegan for dinner. Greens and a boca burger with avocado and lime :) I think I have a bit of salmon hidden in the fridge from last night. I am going to check :)

From RAD on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:43:42 from 67.166.99.8

I LOVE your song, but I am definitely a 'slow' singer - I rarely pick up the pace on the slow songs :) So, that's why I'd have to choose a different one.

Don't you love the long weekend hang over from too much cookies, desert, chips :) I think I'll spend the next 3 weeks working it off!!!

From Burt on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:45:24 from 68.76.197.194

I fasted yesterday, but I more than made up for food loss after I broke my fast.

From LuzyLew on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 16:54:05 from 208.187.197.42

Well, we are what we eat....that's what they say. But for me, I think 3 weeks of being sick and losing like 10 pounds during that time really knocked me flat. I ate good protein and a ton of fruit (melons, cherries, etc). So for the first time in 3 weeks, I feel strong again.

Hi Marion!!!! YOu conquered the bed! Nice tempo run!!!! I am starving, stop talking food please!!!

From marion on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 17:11:23 from 71.219.57.176

RAD & Burt- Me too- I ate the HOUSE after 5pm yesterday. What a bum am i!

Luz- I find it interesting that after being sick, I majorly go for the fruit and lean meats too. why can't I just stick to them ALL OF THE TIME???? The crap is only good in little amounts. A little here and there has NO effect. I just never stop at a little. I am a gold fish ;)

From Smooth on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 17:29:40 from 71.36.81.56

GOOD JOB singing and running. Mondays are like that especially after a holiday weekend. I didn't feel like training today. Notice I say training and not running. You love to run; just not being told how fast to do it. GOOD for you not wimping out and got a nice progressive run done. WAY to start the week off!

From Leandra on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 17:47:36 from 70.56.110.220

It's pretty much a festivus miracle every morning I can get out of bed lol. Great run this morning and great splits, doesn't it feel so good to have gone running when you really didn't want to? I love the feeling after.

From MichelleL on Mon, Jul 06, 2009 at 19:59:42 from 71.35.250.200

Festivus for the rest of us.
