PASTA!

From Burt on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 12:23:20

Something high in carbs.

From Burt on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 12:23:36

No junk food.

From tarzan on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 12:25:49

Marion - for a 5K - I wouldn't worry about it. Just what you would normally do for a long run day.

If it was a half marathon or marathon - then I would worry about my diet.

From Marion on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 12:26:17

Thanks Burt! I will have some pasta for lunch and dinner and NO junk food :(

From Marion on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 12:28:39

Thanks Maurine. I am just SO tired today and sluggish. I did eat total CRAP on my date night with Anna. I am sure that is the problem this morning.

From seeaprilrun on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 14:31:20

I just make sure not to eat anything that might cause surprise bowel movements. The real question is, what do I eat AFTER a race? Anything I want! Yeah! Race day is fun!

From lucia on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 14:35:36

April, I like the way you think! :)

Pasta primavera, mac and cheese or a cheese and tomato sandwich are my favorite meals before a race.

Good luck on the race! You'll smoke that course!

Marion,

GOOD LUCK on your race tomorrow!!! You're gonna do GREAT!!!

For 5K, I don't worry about carb load. I just eat what I always eat before I run, yogurt, banana, cereal. Eat whatever you're used to that don't cause extra pit stop. I do suggest eating dinner a little earlier tonight to ensure plenty time for complete digestion.

From Marion on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 15:33:35

Thanks :) I just needed a reminder. We went out for lunch instead of dinner tonight and I will eat a small dinner :) THANKS!!!! xo

bananas. the race-day superfood.

From Marion on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 16:42:03

Thanks Allie- I am out of bananas and I do love them for race day.

The race is not until 11- I usually eat a 1/2 bagel and a banana a few hours before the race start. With the race being so late in the morning, I am not sure if I should eat more?

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 17:02:28

Your best pace is great and you held it for a bit---AWESOME!

Have a great race tomorrow, I can not wait to read about it.

From leslie on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 17:31:31

Good luck tomorrow, run like the wind girl!!!! Just don't eat M&M's tonight, that is my only bit of wisdom to offer!

From artichoke on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 22:14:41

Some carbs, but not much the day before anything shorter than a half marathon. Race morning I always have a PowerBar about two hours before or maybe a bagel if I have more time than that. I stay away from carbonated drinks for a couple of days. Good luck. Thanks for your comment about running with dogs. I'm going to do better and get her out at least one or two days a week for starters.

I can't wait to see how you do!
