I started running in May of 2006 while losing 85 lbs after my youngest was born.  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.  My oldest is in college and my baby is in pre-school. (Six kids in 5 schools ;)

Alright- I got up at 6 and went for a swim.  I got six laps in with "regulation" strokes and then it was kick board time with  bouts of back stroke and breast stroke.  I am a WIMP!!  After 20 minutes, I "hopped" (more like dragged) myself out and went into the lazy river for a run.  WELL.. if you think I am a toe runner on land, it is 100 times worse in the pool.  So I marched, heel toe, as fast as I could.  I passed the "saunter" ladies and they asked how I could "run" in the pool.  I giggled.  I guess my march could have been construed as a run ;)  I was there for 30 minutes and it felt like a good 3 to 4 mile effort.  Running is WAY easier than swimming!  I am going to kick my bum in gear though.  I was going to swim just 2 days a week, but I am going to do at least 3.  I will not let my former friend, the pool, stab me in the back like this.  I shall will her back, we will be BEST friends again!

We just picked up Ashley from EFY early because she got sick last night. We took her straight to the Doc. she has influenza A. she is quarantined for 10 days. We sent off three of the kids who have had 100% no contact with her. OUr Doc called the EFY folks. Ash said that there were a bunch of kids sick this morning. The doc is required to send out her swabs for additional testing. The poor thing is SO sick.

Marion, I'm so sorry your daughter is sick!! I just hope and pray you don't get it...especially with only 8 days left!!! NO GETTING SICK!! Make DH take care of her :) (whatever, I know you're too good of a mom to do that!!).

Nice job on the swim, I'm in agreement about swimming. I've been sore all over since I went Wednesday!! I'd rather run 10 than swim one! (funny thing though, it takes about the same amount of time!)

Oh dear. I'm sorry to hear that. Make sure you eat as healthy as you can so you will stay well while taking care of her.
