"Not quite EVERY step I take, Not quite EVERY move I make..."

I took some Aleve last night so I could sleep a bit better and it helped.  This morning I did not screech with every step down stairs.  Yesterday was pretty funny.  We had a wet bed that needed some attention, so I was carrying the laundry basket downstairs and created a traffic jam.  Some kids were trying to get up the stairs and others down, and there was Mom, crying on the stairs with a huge basket of bedding taking 25 minutes to traverse the stairs.  Oh, and along with the tears of exhaustion and frustration were involuntary shouts of "OUCH" with each step.  Good times!!!   Ashley (14) asked, "What's wrong with you????"  (Please add teenager "tone")

I am planning on a long walk this evening with David, maybe one after school too, ALONE or with the little boys.  Even they are faster than I am at the moment ;)

Happy Monday!!!

PS- I am really OK- Smooth and Maurine emailed me some GREAT encouragement and advice- THANKS ladies!!  I will write you back when I get home after lunch :)

Here's to a rapid post-really long run recovery! Take care of yourself! I know you will be fine!

From Smooth on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 12:02:28 from 71.36.87.147

Hehehe! I can just picture you taking 25 min. to traverse the stairs with a full load of laundry. I would have sat in the laundry basket and have my teenager slid me down the stairs. I would request elevator installed in the house as one of the Mother's Day presents. :D

Keep walking. If people ask you what's wrong. Don't tell them what you did...cause they'll think it's self-inflicted. Just tell them you're recovering from some heroic acts (it's the truth) and they can help by bringing you some healthy meals. ;)

Maion, I'm with you today... legs are very stiff. I like Smooths way of thinking :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of post-long-run pain. Love it.

From leslie on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 14:43:43 from 76.23.61.78

Yep, Burt's pretty much right. Welcome to the world of pain.

I have yet to figure it all out, my first few marathon were painful, like needed assistance to get off the pot and the stairs were next to impossible, and then after a few years, I had very little pain after the marathon. Now I am back to pain once again, I am figuring age is part of the problem, but 40 girl is nothing, it is just breaking you into marathon shape pain, and you will survive!!!! You worked hard and your body feels it, you are going to be just fine, you are made of steel!

From leslie on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 14:48:46 from 76.23.61.78

and 40 is super young, I did my first marathon at 40 with a time of 5:33. I thought I was wonderwoman, but then I wasn't blogging and I was the only person I knew that had run a marathon, I had nothing to compare it too, I am rambling on while my lady is processing, I guess I better go be socialable and go talk to her. I lack social skills sometimes. Anyway, Marion, I never trained hard like you, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well you will do.

From leslie on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 14:50:20 from 76.23.61.78

no wait, my first marathon was 5:31.

From marion on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 15:21:59 from 71.219.55.149

lESLIE- i WOuld be THRILLED with a 5:33! Anything under 6 is going to be a MIRACLE!!! If I break 5, there will be fireworks and... well more fireworks!

Burt- Ok, I will love it :) Now just email my hubby and tell him that I am NOT nuts!!!

Lori- let's go to Leslies for a massage :)

April- thanks speedy lady :) How is school?

Smooth- I hadn't thought of the sled ;) That would be fun for the kids. I could charge them to push me down. $5 per shove. I think they'd pay ;D

I am actually feeling pretty good at the moment. YIPEE!!!

From RAD on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 18:21:24 from 67.166.99.8

Glad you're recovering nicely!! Funny how those stairs get to be a big menace! Enjoy your walk...I hope the weather holds out. You are an amazon lady through and through!!

Tuesday might be worse. Wednesday you will start to feel much better. By Friday you will be ok on your stairs. You are such a great encouragement to others; you deserve all the love you're getting here! :)

From marion on Tue, May 05, 2009 at 15:32:23 from 71.219.56.217

Rad- the weather has been great down here. How many are you running on Saturday?

Sno- I am happy to say the tuesday (today) is FANTASTIC!! i am HEALED :) I have some remnant aches, but all appears to be on the mend :) YEAH!!!!

Stacey- What you are doing in OVER THE TOP! You just started running. Always look at how far you have come and what you have accomplished! You will get to where ever you want to go, just be patient and know that I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!! I remember the first time I ran 8. I went in to WW to weigh in and TOTALLY bragged to everyone, "Yeah, I just ran 8 miles!"
