1:15 bike ride.

I consulted Coach Maurine yesterday and I have revised my long runs for the Marathon.  My recovery after the long runs is a bit slower than anticipated and to make sure that I don't injure myself, I am making some changes.  My right foot is hurting me and I really don't want to exacerbate it and ruin my marathon chances :)  Here goes the new long run plan:

25th biking

2nd- 18

9th- ~12

16th - Ogden 1/2 -this is going to be a training run, marathon pace if the planets are aligned ;) NO RACING!!

23rd - 20

30th-  ~12

6th- 8

13- MARATHON

(Yes, I think too much and worry too much!)

Looks like a good plan. Just do what your body is telling you. You have been doing great from what I can see. Keep it up.

From marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 13:50:27 from 71.213.115.249

nfroerer- I really feel confident I can do the marathon, all be it SLOWLY. I just have to find the right way to get there trained and uninjured. thanks for the vote of confidence :)

From kellies on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 14:14:53 from 160.7.238.59

So organized, I love how you take everything into consideration. Such a smart woman for your first marathon!! I am so excited for you!! Good work today!

From RAD on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 14:20:12 from 67.166.99.8

GOOD PLAN!! Its always better to tackle things with a plan...keeps you on track!

From leslie on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 14:34:35 from 76.23.61.78

I think it is great plan!!! Hope the footsies are feeling good soon, best not to beat those babies up, you will need them! Is Dave going to bike with you after his little mishap?

From marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 15:01:05 from 71.213.115.249

RAD- I am still going down :)

Leslie- David chickened out. HE has 2 pretty good, deep wounds on his right hand and his sternum is pretty sore. I am SO amazed that he did not get really hurt!

Kellie- I am OCD! I am 100% obsessed with doing this marathon. Every little twinge makes me FREAK out!

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 15:31:13 from 207.225.192.66

Nice plan Marion... it's hard not to be obsessed when you are training, I think we all do it to some extent. I know I do.

From seeaprilrun on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 17:15:30 from 68.102.144.140

You are so wise to be cautious! I know how you feel--the injury terror! As smart as you are you will make it to that marathon starting line and you will ALSO make it to the FINISH LINE!

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:11:19 from 71.219.75.72

You can not think too much. Having a plan is good, it will keep you healthy! Reevaluate as needed!!!

I still have this marathon on my calendar and will be there for the last 10 miles or so to run, if you want me!

From leslie on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:24:02 from 76.23.61.78

ohhhh, the last 10 miles, that sounds good....hummmmm

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:25:31 from 71.219.75.72

Leslie, will you be there, too? Are you guys running together? Do I need to pull a Walter and run back and forth between the two of you and cheer you on?

From leslie on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:29:38 from 76.23.61.78

Yes Kelli, you need to baby sit us both! I will be behind Marion for sure, she is getting too speedy for me,so your 10 miles just became 15!!! :)

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:32:30 from 71.219.75.72

Sounds good to me! I love running with you guys! You two did well together in Painters, I bet you could stick together easy.

We need some new race pictures of the 3 of us hot pink chicks!

From marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:35:36 from 71.213.115.249

Oh yes Kelli- I NEED YOU!!! All I want to do is finish this thing. The only way I will not be with Leslie for the WHOLE thing is if I DIE and she has to leave me rotting by the side of the road, which is fine and totally acceptable, or if either of us has an amazing day and is super springy and needs to fly. I am not expecting the whole "fly/springy" thing, so you should find me somewhere in the last 10 miles SO glad to see your smiling face and gu packed hands :) Oh, some Ibuprofin will be good too and tylenol. Oh and a cell phone to call David when we are 6 miles from the finish to come and see me finish. Maybe some mint brownies and beer.. I mean diet pepsi and margaritas :) cheese cake??? No, just the brownies and margaritas :) Any left over postpartum drugs would be good too. Sugar cookies with TONS of frosting. I like hard cookies with TONS of frosting. Wait, I think I mentioned the frosting part already :)

From leslie on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 20:43:04 from 76.23.61.78

Wow! All that cool stuff, I am going to try and stay with you!!!

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 22:15:42 from 71.219.75.72

Believe me, you will not want any food at mile 20. Or, maybe I am weird? AT TOU they were handing out candy and licorice and all sorts of stuff from mile 18 on, but I could not handle any of it! However, you tell me what you want, and I will bring it!!! I know I can handle the Gu, Ibuprofe and cell phone!!! Actually, licorice might not be a bad idea. I think I did manage to eat one piece of that.

Now, Kneaders sugar cookies are too fry, you could never choke them down. Maybe a Paradise bakery sugar cookie (sans the frosting, dang it)????

From Marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 22:42:55 from 71.213.115.249

Ok Kelli- I will believe you :) You just have to coax me along :) Sunday we can have a piggie fest :)

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 22:45:50 from 71.219.75.72

Yeah, it takes a while to WANT to eat after a marathon for me. However, the two men who ran St George with me (one being Scott) pigged out at a buffet in Mesquite a mere 6 hours after finishing the marathon. I ate fruit and that was about it (but I was a little sick). I guess it just depends. I see people snarfing down all kinds of food after a race, and it is important to get some food in you within 20 minutes----but it is hard. I take all of the food after a race that they hand you, but I just carry it around and then give it to my kids.

From Marion on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 22:58:10 from 71.213.115.249

I did not want to eat after Painters at all and imagine that the marathon will be the same, but worse. I couldn't think after the 1/2. Fun times :)

From RAD on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 00:08:16 from 67.166.99.8

Can we get that kind of reception at Ogden as well? I'm getting hungry just reading about all that yummy stuff :)

From montelepsy on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 12:39:25 from 217.68.199.130

You don't think too much. You plan just right. I wish I was as proactive.

From maurine/tarzan on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 18:09:33 from 63.255.172.2

Gee - maybe I should hang with Marion. I was planning on being a little farther ahead and might miss out. :-(

How come nobody is talking about how brilliant Coach Maurine is?

From Teena on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 00:40:25 from 67.177.20.13

Sounds like a GREAT plan!!!

From leslie on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 11:09:56 from 76.23.61.78

You are probably bustling around the house getting the little ones ready for church, just wondering how your baptism went yesterday and your bike ride. I missed not hearing from you yesterday!

From Smooth on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:04:01 from 71.36.71.239

Hey Marion,

Glad to hear you're a woman with a mission...the piggie fest and all!

I sent in my registration to Utah Valley and St. George the day before I left for Boston. Yesterday I wrote out a check for $112.5 to run the Wasatch Back Relay which is 6 days after Utah Valley. Hubby said I was spending all our retirement funds before he even retires. :-D

Here's my plan for Utah Valley...put wheelers on my shoes for the first 10 miles down Hwy 189; then jog the last 16.2 IF I don't get lost along the way. Man, that course has us going all over the place.

Hope you had a great baptism for your sweet boy and fun weekend.

From marion on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 14:52:44 from 71.213.124.162

I didn't go for a bike ride :( The boys were up most of the night hacking up a lung. They have some nasty cold. I forced myself out of bed in time to get us out the door to set up and decorate for the luncheon afterwards at the church. It was cute. The baptism was GREAT. It went just perfectly. We were finally home around 2:30 and I was BEAT. I am not very good at doing two things in one day. I finally forced myself off of the couch and went over for Sashas surprise party. It was fun to see friends :)

We made it to church, which seemed like a miracle of sorts today. I am pooped and really want to eat the better part of my house. Dinner is at 5, so I am going to go prepare my meeting for the week and maybe take a nap. I need to get the marathon mentality for life. I need to keep going even when my beds gravitational pull is working hard to get me in!
