An hour and a half bike ride with Michelle.  Will was in the bike trailer :)  What a FUN time :)  The day even gets better.  I headed to Costco after work.  As I was leaving I ran into Luz :)  We chatted and then I headed over to meet Michelle at Red Mango.  YUMMY!!!!  See how this day is the BEST DAY EVER.  Well it even gets better.  I happened to be over at the school just in time to hear President Obama's speech at the elementary school.  It was BRILLIANT!!!!  I am SO glad that I heard it myself.  It is one speech that EVERY American with children needs to hear.  Every child needs to hear it too.  Very good.  BEST DAY EVER!!! :)

PERFECT!!!!! Exersize, friends and food! It just doesn't get any better than that. And you said you liked Obama's talk, all I hear is negativity, so that was music to my ears! Happy DAys!!! Yay! Marion!

From marion on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 18:39:58 from 71.213.124.121

Negativity??? Seriously??? They must not have heard it. It was BRILLIANT and beautiful. very good :) All the nay-sayers are uninformed and paranoid :o, I mean REALLY, what in the HECK did they think he was going to say to our children??? I am not a big Obama supporter, but he IS the president of the United States of America and he deserves our respect.

From leslie peterson on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 18:45:53 from 76.23.61.78

I KNOW!!! I did hear the talk as well and loved it! I have afew of those paranoid people around here, that think he is going to brainwash their kids. CRAZY!!!!

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 18:48:07 from 97.117.81.161

WOW, lunch dates two days in a row! PERFECT dayS. We and our children can and should respect the office of the President of the United States. It doesn't mean we have to agree with his views or anyone's political agenda. It is important for parents to talk about current events with their children and be informed with the policy makers of our country.

From marion on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 19:07:18 from 71.213.124.121

I agree with you 100% Smooth. I don't agree with most of Obama's plans, but his speech to our children was SO good. If the children of our nation listened to it and did what he said to do (the same things we tell our own children) this country would be a better place, a MUCH better place :)

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 19:08:15 from 71.219.96.151

That is because people are ignorant and poor losers (oops, hope I did not offend anyone). It was a brilliant speech indeed. Why did they hear it today?

I have never been to Red Mango, I need to try it.

From LuzyLew on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 19:19:44 from 208.187.197.42

I listened to the speech live with my kids because their school wouldn't show it without my kids having to bring in special permission and go into a separate room, so they wouldn't disturb other children taking a test at that time. I personally was thrilled that the president of the United States took an interest in American school aged children and told them that they'd be letting their country down if they failed or dropped out of school, and that succeding academically was an act of patriotism. Debate the healthcare issue and fiscal socialist policy all you want, but I'm always glad with someone in a position of authority (particularly looked up to by minorities) says that being bad in school is bad for the country. Thanks for the soap box. I hope I don't offend anyone.

I'll do yoga if Marion votes for Obama in 2012 :D

The reason why the kids listened to the speech today is because the Nebo school district mistakenedly assumed that the vast majority of parents did not want their kids to hear the speech, then many parents complained that their kids couldn't hear the speech, and the board issued an apology and decided to show it. It is better late than never, it is refreshing to see an admission of a regretful decision.

The speech was brilliant, I was able to listen to it on my mp3 player as it was broadcast live, even though my kids watched it later that evening streamed from www.whitehouse.gov.

(While I endorse Obama, I respectfully decline to endorse Red Mango--I'd prefer a chocolate-strawberry sundae from Costco anyday, and the cost was $7 to $1.65, no brainer.)

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 21:47:38 from 71.219.96.151

Costco Ice Cream is the BEST!!!! And so darn cheap, totally worth driving there.

That is strange that parents were not up in arms before the speech, everyone out here freaked out so much that very few schools even showed it (proud to say our charter school DID,although many parents kept their kids home). I never understood the freaking out, what on earth were they afraid he would say??? Anyway, it was great. We watched it again that night with our kids.

You guys are SO cool! :)

OK- Red Mango is OVER priced, BUT I 100% LOVED it. Costco is cheaper, but I really like that yogurt zip. Extra for toppings is n/a for me as I like mine plain ;) I liked it's smoothness. Thank you Michelle for eating with me. As you said, friends should not let friends eat dessert alone!

Luz- we will do this "lunch" soon :)

Now to defend my Caramel Cashew pie thing from dinner. Chocolate is #1, but there is a magical thing that happens when you blend cream cheese, whipping cream, yummy pie crust, caramel and LARGE cashews into a thick and thicker creamy pie. (please see the photo on my melting marion blog) Even David LOVED it and he is a true chocolate LOVER!!

Kelli- I told David about your Italian pasta night and your saying that the sauce tasted like "Prego." He said, in true Pasta Nazi form, "No pasta for her!!! Infidel, she should be boiled in pasta sauce! The poor deprived American." evil chuckle to follow. :)

Too much talk of yummy food. But I like the Obama talk.

Michelle- if he runs against Huntsman, it's Obama for sure!
