Stupid migraine :(  Oh well.  I went for a little run to make sure that all is still working and it is :)  I wanted to go further, but the nausea from the headache said "GO HOME!!"  I obeyed :)  I am sure it is from the doc visit yesterday.  He was messing with my neck and I should have told him "NO!!!"  Anyway- I told David this morning that often family members bring flowers to their marathoners....HINT HINT.  We shall see :)

Hey, for anyone who can make it, we are going to meet at 6:20pm at the packet pick up and then go to The Brick Oven for dinner Friday night (~7:15).  By "we" I mean, Maurine, Luz (maybe, probably, hopefully ;) and Anna Lisa (most likley).  Anyone else who'd like to come is VERY WELCOME!  Just let me know and I will PM you my cell.  Maurine and I are meeting at 4:45am for the buses.

Oh, my homemade pocket may not be great.  It rides my shorts pretty low in the back and bounces a ton.  I am going to see if my seamstress neighbor will help me make some real pockets in the sides.  I need something to carrry all of my 1,000,000 gu's.  Yes, they are over kill, but hey, it keeps me going, even if it is placebo :)

Happy day before the day before the MARATHON!!! :)  Carb loading time!  Rest time :)  YIPPEE!!

BTW- Ashley is feeling SO much better.  She comes out of quarantine Saturday night and she is SO excited!!! :)

Your sherpa is there to serve you and will happily add your gu packets to the waist pack she is carrying.

Oh Sherpa Maurine :) You are SO kind :) I thought about buying one, but wasn't sure what kind to get. My Nathan is comfortable, but I don't know about fanny packs :) I need to go to Runners corner today and check them out :)

I was going to use my pack with a big bag, but not carry the water bottles - so just let me carry them for you.

Good luck! I can not wait to read your race report.

Nice to see that your daughter is doing so much better.

Can't wait to hear yoru race report... You will do awesome!!

Glad things are still working! I'd love to come to the BO just to hang and eat their fabulously lovely food...but work and family prevent me :(

Marion, I was planning on bringing some gu's with me and even bought a pack thing (same no pocket issue!), but Ogden had Gu's at EVERY station so I left them home. Maybe if you have too many problems (and Sherpa Tarzan is loaded) you can bag it and just use theirs. I'm assuming UVM is the same.

From marion on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 14:34:05 from 71.219.54.130

Rachel- UVM only has Hammer Gel at two stations. I haven't tried HammerGel so I am going to stick with the gu that I know I like :) Plus I am going to gu every 4 miles :) A bit overkill but it really worked well on my 20 miler :) Here's hoping the same game plan works for the real deal :)

From Smooth on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 14:40:23 from 71.32.237.137

YAY for Ashley out of quarantine!!!

Very awesome of Maurine to sherpa your Gu. UVM has two hammer gel stations, can't remember exactly which ones. I plan on bringing just two of my own and use the ones at the stations. When I didn't have pocket room to put them in, I safety-pinned them to the waist band and outside of my running shorts. My shirt is long enough that it "holds" them in place. I also cut a little slit on the Gu packets so it's really easy to tear from the short without much frumbling. When the weather is cold, I wear those cheap gloves and have put gu inside them too. If you've never run with a fanny pack on, I'd say don't do it on Sat.

I don't know what my plan is for tomorrow's packet pick up and dinner yet. I usually like to eat early. I have your cell so if I'm in Provo around that time, I'll give you a jingle. Brick Oven is my fav. place for carb load.

GOOD LUCK on Sat. (just in case I don't see you). You will do AWESOME!

I'm already up in the tree with my wig on cheering for you! Enjoy Brick Oven for me. I wish I could be there.

Have a great time Marion!! I hope to be at the finish line if I can get a few hours sleep in before then after my night shift Friday night. It would be so fun to WATCH you all finish. Enjoy the day, the scenery and fine company!!!

From marion on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 15:47:39 from 71.219.54.130

Smooth- Oh I hope you can meet us :) David and i work in the temple until 6 so we can't make it earlier :( I need to look up their menu and see what I want to get. I am thinking something small and plain. I had salmon and new potatoes the night before Ogden and that did not sit well with me. Maybe linguini with a red sauce on the side? I dunno. I am having a hard time coming up with carbs to eat. Maybe I will make a loaf of bread. Ooohh, I think I will go get a hot loaf of french bread from the grocery store. Chicken chow mein sounds good too :)

Carolyn- don't get too cold in the trees :) It's been windy and rainy ;D I sure wish you could be here too.

Julie- HI!!! You need your sleep, but, if you can make it over, I will be there. My shirt has my name on it and I will have a hot pink visor :)

good luck marion! you are so ready.

From rattletrap on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 17:58:10 from 70.193.7.42

I've seen people staple the top of the gu packet to the waistband of their shorts. Then you can just tear them off when you need them. Just an idea; it may be easier than making pockets.

From Britta on Fri, Jun 12, 2009 at 14:32:57 from 66.74.236.175

Good luck tomorrow!!! I am totally jealous of your 1st marathon experience tomorrow. I have the most fondest dreams of mine. You will never forget it!!
