The four miles from HADES!!!  2 miles at13 mm and one walking, trying not to throw up!  And one 11-12 mm for the home stretch.  I fear I may have the stomach flu that the rest of the family has had :(   It also does not help my run today that I was eating "low carb" style yesterday and sunday :p  Low carb is great for getting rid of water weight, but a total crapper for running!  On the up side, I am 7.4 lbs down from sunday morning ;)  I am going to run in and weigh and then have very nice lunch :) ... and snack.... and dinner.... and snack!  Lots of whole grain carbs!!!

OH no... I hope you are not getting the flu! Try and get some rest to see if it helps you feel better. Wow 7.4 since Sunday that that is alot! Maybe I should do the "low carb" thing.

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 10:57:36 from 71.213.118.108

Oh Lori- I don't recommend it unless you like running through a molasses swamp in december! ;)

From tarzan on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 11:30:41 from 63.255.172.2

Oops - I was actually going to suggest yesterday that you should snuggle up to one of the sick ones and get the flu to drop your weight. Blame me for my mental thoughts.

Take care.

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 11:36:22 from 71.213.118.108

Actually, I don't think it is the stomach flu. I think it is trying to run with total glycogen depletion! I don't recommend "low carb" at all! It's great to get rid of water weight, but your body takes up all of the glycogen stores to live and leaves nothing for running! I have only hit the wall once, and this was like running against the wall the whole time.

Now I am not complaining about hitting my goal for March, but next month is not going to be the same story!! ;) Wait, next month is tomorrow ... hmmmm ;)

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 12:26:06 from 68.102.144.140

Some runs are rough. Eeek. At least you trudged through it. I tried low carb several years ago. I peed like a race horse and dropped a ton of water weight but it was absolutely unsustainable. After 3 weeks I fell off the boat HARD and ate every piece of bread and cookie in sight and gained it all back in a few days. I could never do Atkins for life!

From leslie on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 14:31:37 from 76.23.61.78

Sorry for the crappy run, but you do get points for getting out there anyway!

Interesting about the low carbs, I love how you explain all these little details, it is almost as good as going to a WW meeting! I think I have experienced the same thing on several occasions. I do need carbs to run.

From RAD on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 14:34:27 from 67.166.99.8

Marion, I did a low carb diet for about a month or so and there was once when I was running that I HAD to stop or fall over! My eyes were getting black spots - I could tell my blood sugar was way below where it should be! This is when I finally added more carbs in. I still kept the protein high, but added more 'whole grain' carbs back in to fuel my body with 'premium gas'. GREAT JOB working through it and reaching your goal...you are SO dedicated and have the greatest personality to go along with it :)

From Kelli on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 14:58:13 from 71.219.100.181

YEAH!!! You will get your sticker!!

This stomach flu is annoying and if i get it I am going to be ticked off!

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 15:51:55 from 71.36.65.79

GREAT JOB getting your workout in. I could never go on a low carb diet. I love carb; that's why I run.

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 15:54:38 from 71.213.118.108

I DID IT! I am at goal :) (.8 under to be exact ;) To celebrate David, Will and I went to Zupas. I ordered a large Thai chicken salad and half tomato basil soup. I got the soup down and was FULL!! I will have the salad for dinner :) I did eat my bread with a huge slab of butter on it. That butter was SO good! Will ate all of the chocolate covered strawberries. Hey, I ordered a Million Dollar bar. HOLY CRAP that thing was good. David and I split it. I am going to have to make mine like theirs... only once a year and when 40 of my closest friends are coming over to share. WOW, that was tasty!!!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:02:46 from 71.213.118.108

Low carb is not great! Rachel- I am going to follow your lead, keep the protein higher (I think this helped my legs recover so fast) and then add in really good crabs- fruits, veggies and whole grains. I am going to do much better with the crap carbs, once a week. I need carb fuel for running, but I can't afford the extra calories for the crappy ones. I want to be down 6 lbs by my birthday.. and NOT JUST WATER WEIGHT ;)

Next month is my birthday! I am so excited!!! :) I get to see Wicked!!! We are going to the Melting Pot in SLC, if anyone wants to come along.

From leslie on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:11:29 from 76.23.61.78

Woo hoo!!!!! WAy to go!!! I have been eyeballing those Million Dollar bars.... glad to know they are worth a splurge one day!!!! You can do 6 pounds by your BD!!!! I have offically quit weighing on my scale for the time being, we will see if it is good thing or not for me. Keep it up Marion, and remember those low carb diets are not for us runners!!!

From maurine/tarzan on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:30:58 from 63.255.172.2

OK - remind me what is in the Million Dollar Bars. (You have now made me hungry and I am busy googling recipes).

Congratulations, Marion!

WARNING WARNING- I am about to tell a VERY good recipe ;)

Graham cracker crust- 3/8" thick

1 can of sweetened and condensed milk, poured evenly over the crust

cover with chocolate chips- solid!!!

1/2" shredded sweetened coconut

1 can sweetened condensed milk poured over the coconut

cover milk with another layer of chocolate chips

sprinkle with walnuts, nice big chunks

Sprinkle with coconut chips

Press gently down :) Bake at 350 until the coconut chips get golden brown.

Sorry- I warned you!!! We call them Magic Bars ;) They magically make you FAT!!! Ooops... sorry I said the "F" word ;)

From tarzan on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:45:45 from 63.255.172.2

Yeah - the 1/2 inch layer of coconut is enough to kill you off.

From leslie on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:54:55 from 76.23.61.78

Shame on you Marion! Coconut is my most favorite food in all the land!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 16:57:40 from 71.213.118.108

I warned you two!!! Sweetened and condensed milk is my killer and mix that with coconut, you have death in a pan! The chocolate chips can be mixed with butterscotch or peanut butter ones :) I am a purest and prefer chocolate alone with HUGE nuts :)

How's the IT band feeling?

From tarzan on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 17:25:33 from 63.255.172.2

OK - It would be better with an application of chocolate.

I am planning on torturing it tonight while I watch Biggest Loser. The styrofoam roller and tennis balls might be thrown out my window (hope the dog doesn't wander by while I am massaging it).

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 17:29:03 from 71.213.118.108

I want to see Wicked!!!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:00:17 from 71.213.118.108

My girlfriends and I took our daughters 2 years ago to see it and it was FANTASTIC!!! I can't wait to see it again. David is not too excited and I am so tempted to take a friend and not him ;) I took him to see Les Miserable in San Fransisco before we were married and he FELL ASLEEP! He is such a culture turd ;)

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:01:55 from 71.36.65.79

We're going to see Wicked too!

How can such a high society lady be married to a culture turd? You crack me up.

From Mandy on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:05:19 from 206.251.43.221

Um, so yeah. I'm SOOO being your friend to see Wicked-don't waste it on David! We tried to get me to San Francisco last week so we could go see it, but it didn't work out. I'll be your best friend if you let me meet you there! I can even get you free parking across the street-see, I'm even useful! hehehe I'm mostly recovered, just really tired still. I think it's mostly just feeling all the crapola I've been eating this month, so I'm getting better!

From Kelli on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:11:01 from 71.219.100.181

That recipe sounds too good, so I will not make it ever (until I am a stick anyway, so that would be NEVER).

I just read in Woman's Day that it takes more calories to break down protein, so we really need a lot of good protein in our bodies!!!

Yeah on goal!!! I am do very happy for you. That monthly weigh in can be a buggar, it stresses me out!!! I am hoping to lose 5 pounds this month, but I will not know until the monthly weigh in as I ditched the scale!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:17:06 from 71.213.118.108

Smooth- waht day are you going?

Leslie- me high society? I may have been raised that way, but I have fallen from grace. Didn't I tell you that I am the White Trash sister now? ;)

Mandy- you are right about David.. it should be you going, but David is way more fun at the B & B over night ;O

Kelli- I am going to try the scale thing this month. I have to weigh in every week for work, so I am going to go blind for the whole month. Here's hoping I can hold it together :) Let's call April, 5 pounds be gone month :) It's our spring resolution :)

From leslie on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:22:04 from 76.23.61.78

Girls, I am in on the "5 Pounds with no scale April Month" ! It is time to shake things up and try a new twist on things!!

I think you are a high class white trash gal!!

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:31:34 from 71.36.65.79

April 9. You are not white trash! April is gonna be your month. You will look fabulous by your b'day!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 18:47:01 from 71.213.118.108

Oh, but I am white trash. Haven't you seen my White Trash recipes :) Tot-Chos is the #1 favorite around here. My favorite reference to early morning as the "Butt crack of dawn" is a dead give away. ;) I don't have any missing teeth, so I have that going against me for the White Trash Queen! I also don't wear tank tops... unless I am running, it's the white trashness in me trying to come out!

From leslie on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 19:02:13 from 76.23.61.78

You guys are funny! Marion do you squint when reading the orange juice can because it says concentrate? Maybe you are a redneck!

From Marion on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 19:10:08 from 71.213.118.108

From tarzan on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 19:34:08 from 97.117.61.64

That would make her a blonde.

From RAD on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 00:12:14 from 67.166.99.8

Okay, I'm so in for the 5 pound April. I thought my cruise was okay, but this week I ended up with an extra 5 - how does that work??? However, I'm not good with no weighing, I need the motivation the scale gives me! Oh, and everyone is begging for wicked, but I'll take Melting Pot ... MMMMM! My husband doesn't like it, so I don't go :(

From Mandy on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 01:35:26 from 206.251.43.221

Oh come on-I can be way trashier than you! ;) and as far as Wicked goes, just think of how David can be arranging things 'just so' for a wonderful, romantic getaway while we are mesmerized by the play!

PS-I feel like jumping on the whole scale band wagon. Just for the record, scales are of the DEVIL!!!!!! I only weigh myself once or twice a year. The rest of the time it's all about how I feel and how the clothes fit. Which, by the way, my waistline has grown exponentially recently and the scales don't reflect it-nasty crap food!!!!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 05:20:56 from 71.213.118.108

Mandy- lol- about DAvid and "romantic" He'd be a the B&B asleep! Oh and the crappy food is a result of our CRAPPPY month! Yeah for April!!! You look great, by the way!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 15:14:28 from 71.219.100.181

Just so you all know, I weighed myself today!!! I seriously sweated buckets today at the gym, like nothing I have ever seen before. I was curious if I could drop 8 pounds like my husband does in one workout. I didn't!!

So, since the scale at home is officially in the trash, I have decided that I will weigh myself at the gym every Thursday. I weigh in at WW the last Thursday of the month, so I will stick with Thursdays. Run in the am, yoga, weigh in. I think that will work for me, but ONLY once a week. Rachel will kick me if I try any other day. The trainer sits right by the scale, so it is easy to avoid!!!

I am trying to be back to my St George weight in time for Ogden, so I really need the once a week weigh in. After that, back to just monthly weigh ins at WW.

From Marion on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 15:27:20 from 71.213.118.108

Kelli- you are forgiven :) I am still weighing every day. It does not freak me out at all. It motivates me to make better choices :) and, I think today is Wednesday ;) You are going to do great in Ogden :) We are going to have a great day!!!

From leslie on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 15:30:34 from 76.23.61.78

Kelli, if you are super serious, how much do you think you can lose in a month? I am would be super happy with 5 pounds. I would think with you having so little to lose 5 would be a stretch.

I am going to be brave and not weigh until the end of the month, I already love my new found freedom!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 15:37:52 from 71.219.100.181

Oh, I forgot to say that I will be at the U Thursday and Friday and not back into the gym until Monday---so I weighed a day early!!! Missed that minor fact!

Okay, to get to my St George weight, I have 5 pounds to go. I HOPE I can do 5 pounds in 7 weeks (I have lost one since last Thursday). I have been eating like a saint! you do not know how many times I have wanted stop and get a cookie, but I haven't!!!!

After that, I really want to lose 4 more. REALLY BAD! That will be the smallest I have ever been, so I WANT IT BAD! but, no stress. NO STRESS at all.

From leslie on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 15:43:51 from 76.23.61.78

Good little Saint!!! You will have to be a saint for 7 weeks because you are so small, but you CAN do it! I have been a saint all morning and will be try to be for the rest of the month. Looks like everyone is on a mission this month. Let's do it girls!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:00:11 from 71.219.100.181

And we really need to do it this time, right???? WE WILL.

From Marion on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:10:32 from 71.213.118.108

Not only CAN we do this, we WILL do this!! I can lose 5 pounds. It has been freaking me out to lose 25, but I can handle 5 :)

From leslie on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:15:44 from 76.23.61.78

This time is for real! I am eating string cheese and Crystal Light Peach Ice tea, and I am happy, I don't feel deprived, it is all mental and we are smart gals and are going to lick this! We will practically fly thru Ogden we will be so light!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:19:41 from 71.219.100.181

I have had to much Crystal Light Peach Green Tea today, I am BUZZING!!!!

I found a new snack: they sell these mini bagels at Wal Mart. They are Bubba's Whole Wheat and they are only one point. (You can get the regular sized ones at Smiths, but they are 4 points!) Then I put the Laughing Cow spreadable Light swiss cheese on it. It is only 1 point as well, so it is a very filling two point snack. They sell the swiss cheese stuff at Costco. It comes with 30 something servings. GREAT DEAL.

From leslie on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:29:37 from 76.23.61.78

Thanks for the tip, that sounds perfect. I am going to go get the bagels and Laughing Cow cheese today!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 16:31:00 from 71.219.100.181

You will LOVE IT!

From Marion on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 17:08:56 from 71.219.51.249

I love skinny cow! I buy the 1 point bagels at walmart above the cream cheese. They are regular size. They are called the alternative bagel. I put the cheese and 2 slices of the costco ham for a three point sandwich. If you add veggies it is a HUGE sandwich :)

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 18:23:50 from 71.219.66.112

Yeah, I do not like those bagels, They are hard! But they do have more choices. The one I bought was 2 points, though. Maybe i should try a different kind. And, they are still smaller than most bagels, just not minis! Don't you think?

From Marion on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 18:29:59 from 71.219.51.249

Yes- they are not as good as regular bagels :( I like the onion ones. I really like regular bagels though. I am happy with a 1/2 of a regular bagel now, so I skip the 1 pointers ;)

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 01, 2009 at 18:38:12 from 71.219.66.112

I am telling you, try this mini bagels for a snack! They are so soft, 100% whole wheat, and good. They would not, however, make a good sandwich---too small.
