Alright, this weather is PERFECT!  It's a bit nippy to begin with, but after a warm up, it is UNREAL!  The temperature, the humidity, it just feels and smells GREAT!  My run was alright as far as my legs go.  I think I am going to stick with 25-30 miles a week until I get ten pounds off.  Then I'll add by 10% until I can feel myself at the injury threshold again.  I'm still going to bike up to the eight miles a day, converted.  Slow and steady wins the race!!  I am always telling my Weight Watcher members to never do anything one day that will compromise their ability to be active the next day. The goal is to run every day.  The goal is to be active EVERYDAY!!  It is far better to take it easy on an "off" day and still have legs for the next day, than to overdo and become injured.  I need to live what I preach everyday.  I want to get the miles up, but I NEVER want to be injured again ;)  I need to run everyday.  I need this.  "Hello, my name is Marion, and I am a run-a-holic!"

Running 4.22 miles, 54:31 minutes, Ave 12:55, best 9:33, Laps- 16:23 (.67), 12:01, 13:07(stopped for a stretch and to talk to the road worker guys), 11:54, 11:48(.56)

Biking  51 minutes = 4.25 running miles

Yoga- 60 minutes.  It was a "Yoga for Mountaineers" class.  The class really focused on the core and the hip flexors.  Boy, did I need that class!

Hey, Marion! Nice to see the xtraining in your program! I think that it is definitely going to make me a stronger, healthier runner :). You look strong, and I think that it is always nice for a change of pace and to include alternate exercise to work the other muscle groups :) You will find your PRs are going to drop like cement blocks! Woot!

I like your plan! I did the yoga today too, my problem is I can't see the moves that well, I need the yoga bad, I have to find a class. It was nippy up here too, felt good. Have a great day!

Really HC? ( Ilove your blog name, by the way!) I want everything to drop- well almost everything ;) I appreciate the encouragment! I REALLY do!

Thanks les- You for sure need a class if you are not familiar with the moves. I went to a studio for 2 years before I ventured on my own. :) How are those heels?

From leslie on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 11:02:02

The heels are still talking to me. I am working on it, I feel like with my low miles these next few months I will be able to get it under control. I am going to check into some yoga classes for sure, it sounds great for winter.

Did you yodel instead of chant?

From Marion on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 13:03:34

For sure- I always yodel at 6 am :) My husband loves it! He's german!

From The Howling Commando on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 13:16:18

Definitely Marion: I mean I haven't raced since January, however I have seen improvements just in my overall fitness and physique from biking. Plus biking is a lot easier on the joints, and when used in conjunction with running you are building up a strong aerobic base without all the pounding on the muscles and joints from the road.

ok Benn- for the proof- I need you to run a marathon :) Your splits are great from your runs this past week. Your half this summer was AWESOME!! It is so great to hear from others that my training is good for me... not just death by exercise! ;D

From The Howling Commando on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 13:23:40

Hahaha "Death by exercise". Sounds about right. When I test my theory of this xt as building block for a PR in 2009, I will be sure to let you know. Then I will patent the idea and make FRB rich ;)

Marion -- so glad to hear about your great morning. The weather is nice. I am dreading winter. :(
