FRB Labor Day Potluck Breakfast at my house after the Onion Day's 5k & 10 K.  I am providing the pancakes (banana chocolate chip) and waffles(whole wheat belgian), Michelle is bringing strawberries & pineapple, and Sarah is bringing the paper products.  We are meeting at my house between 6 and 6:15 and then walking over to the race start.  Feel free to meet us there or at the end of the race too and walk back with us :)  There is a parade at 10 if anyone enjoys that type of torture!  Funny how we'll run for days, but make us watch a parade and we would rather run for days :D  Everyone is welcome- especially your families.  Our house isn't big or fancy, but we've got a lot of grass and love to have company.  We even have a creek to soak your race weary legs ;)

As for the run today, maybe my garmin is broken or maybe I am getting better ;)  I was crunched for time today, so I pushed harder today than I have in a long while.  It wasn't too bad.   The funny part was that I felt like I was slowing down the whole last mile.  Anyway, I ran up the canyon 2 miles and then down.  The first and last miles were on 6th east, slight up and slight down.  I focused on "less" of a toe strike to help the calves, which were fine :D  Woo Hoo!!!  All my miles for the rest of the week will be really slow, so that maybe I can keep up with Sarah for the 5 k on monday :)  It is SO flat!!!

I was listening to The Smiths- "Girlfriend in a Coma" first song out- and I had forgotten how much I LOVE the Smiths!!  They just crack me up, especially, "Some Girls are Bigger than Others"  I play them for my kids and they just look confused!  Generation gap- I guess!!!

Your breakfast sounds so fun!!! Can you register for the race in the morning? I would love to come down, I will have to see if I can make it work! Maybe I could get my chicks to come down!

Nice Run Marion!

You have got me curious about the Smiths, I will have to check that out!

My heels are feeling MUCH Better, I think it is the Vitamin I!!!

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 11:42:22

Yes, my dear- you can register the day of the race or at runnercard.com until tomorrow night. It would be so great to see you!!!

The Smiths are an old group from the 80's. Obscure and wonderful, if your nuts like me ;)

Ok- whats Vitamin I? Oh- Ice :) yes?

From leslie on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 11:53:50

Vitamin I is Ibuprofen! Hey, I will check with my chicks and the hubby and see if I can make it happen! It sounds like a such a fun morning!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 13:28:59

I think Vitamin I should be ICE CREAM---it makes me feel better.

Can I bring something??? Juice or...I dunno. I never do breakfast. I think we will leave my kids at home because I know for sure my 15 year old would lose someone while we are running, but the two of us will be there! Too bad my grandparents are not still alive and kickin'---I could leave my kids with them!

This sounds so fun. I don't know anything about onion days, but it reminds me of Garlic Week in Gilroy CA. They even sell Garlic Ice Cream at the festival. I see the link about where to sign up for the race. Is there somewhere I can learn more about onion days? I'll ask Sarah when I see her.

luzylew--go to www.payson.org

It is just Payson's Labor Day weekend thing, they have done it forever. I am sure there is a reason...beats me! I grew up going to it every year with my family---nostalgia!

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 13:46:44

I grew up about 20 min away from Gilroy and loved the Garlic Festival. I LOVE garlic! The mushrooms were always my favorite. My old boss used to organize it. Anyway, good times. Onion Days is the largest Labor Day celebration is Utah. It is very small town and a bit white trash and redneck, but we have come to love and embrace it :D The races are small and the routes are through the fields and pretty much flat. There are a few swells, hills to some, but really just swells. Talk to Sarah and come if you can. You'll be home pretty early if you need to be. I'd love to meet you :D

Kelli- I missed your entry- I am losing my mind. Yes- beverages would be great :) Please bring whatever you like. We always have tons of milk, but no juice- the kids guzzle it like they just never get it, because they don't, because they just drink it all GONE! :D

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 14:09:04

Same here---it is a TREAT to have juice!

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 15:05:50

Marion,

Thanks to you and your griddle lovin' hubby for taking on the FRB! Tom and I are not going to be running the Onion Days race. We have family that will be with us and we may run into some of you at the parade or other festivities, but we will be a no show for the breakfast. :( Have lots of fun though and be sure to tell all about it!

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 16:21:04

We will miss you and say Hi when we see you at the park. Our girls are in the Pipe band- so be sure to cheer! :D

From Kim on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 16:29:33

Our son will be wearing the Icelandic costume on the Icelandic float. So shout out a hardy hello to Jansen when you see him! (He thinks he looks kind of like an elf when he wears this outfit, but we tell him it's a very manly elf! :))

From barry on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 17:36:05

Thanks for the invite. But will you move your house closer to mine so i can come over? :) Great job on your running you are doing awesome so keep up the good work. So on Monday are you running the 10k?

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 18:23:27

Kim- Oooo Iceland in August! Nice and toasty! We'll be sure to shout out! :D What's with the Icelandic float?

Barry- I am running the 5k for speed, (maybe) :) I feel the need, the need for speed (maybe)! Well, speed in the universe of marion. It's a little slower from the regular universes that ya'll live on ;)

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 18:54:26

Anything besides juice? More fruit, maybe? We will not be there long cause we will need to get home to our kids, but we want to say hi!

Can you PM me your address and directions?? All I really know is the route to my grandma's and the Taco Time!

From Megan on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 22:19:36

Nice Run Marion! Looks like you've been getting miles evryday this week:)

Thanks for upbeat comment! I do my long runs in the middle of the week, doing them over the weekend never works out for me. PS: those pancakes sound delicious...now i'm hungry again.

From marion on Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 23:46:59

More fruit would be great Kelli. We'll eat fast :) My husbands griddle is HUGE. He christened it at the father and son's.

On Megan- they are really good :)
