Hello there all you AMAZING runners!

Confessions of a ~runner: I cut todays run by a mile.  My knee was still a little... I don't know how to say it... a little questionable.  So, I thought I'd better play it safe, and not risk any injury that might be trying to RUIN MY LIFE!!! :)

Nice run.  I am noticing a trend, speedier week, NOT speedy week, and back and forth.  Thats OK, right?  I am in this for the long haul, and two years ago I couldn't even walk 2 miles!  So here's to me.  Does anyone know any good songs to celebrate my.  All I come up with is , "just keep running, step in time, never quit running, step in time..."

Speaking of songs, my mp3 died after just one Scorpion song.  I had to sing "step in time" for 3.6 miles.  The verses got really BAD!!!

Time: 49:41, ave 13:48, best 10:05, Laps- 16:51(.25), 13:35, 12:59, 12:21, 18:37(.35)

Tom and I were getting a little crazy with the step in time this morning too! We were talking about how I can drive the people running near me at the marathon crazy!

I love running without music in my ears! I never take my mp3 with me anymore. I plan to run the whole marathon without being plugged into anything but my own thoughts.

When our house was burglarized a month ago, I had to run without my iPod. I found that I really didn't miss it. Today was the first time with my new iPod. It's good to have during speedwork, because it can pump me up. When I used to do shorter repeats, I would pick a song that was as long as my repeat was supposed to be, and try to beat the song for every repeat, over and over. But I NEVER race with music. After running a few weeks without it, I'm going to try to not use it as much, except, of course, if I have to run on the treadmill!

Don't worry about your pace varying week by week. It happens to all of us. You are being consistent with your running, and that is what is most important.

That is funny you should mention songs. I was telling Ardath on our hike this morning, that if I am in the mountains running trails without my ipod I sing that song " Little Red Riding Hood, you sure are lookin' good you're everything a big bad wolf could want", and then I howl!! I have the red hair, I just need a really cute little red cape and basket( to keep my gu and shot blocs) and I will be set!

And yeah, this blog can make us crazy trying to get fast times like so many runners have here, but I think we need to remember to go at our own pace and not get caught up in the time too much, a little push is good , but not so that we are feeling pain. I am pushing more than usual with my Running Chics, and it will be a good test for me to see if it has made me do better for ST. George or not. My real goal is to complete marathons feeling good, and not so much on time. But maybe if I push thru the pain, I will be faster and enjoy it just as much...not sure this is just a test....

To tell the truth, I haven't used my ipod in so long, that is why I think it was dead.

I want to invent a cd with music all at certian tempos. So if you want to be paced at 10mm then here is your cd, etc. We could call it Pace Music. That's lame, but it would be SO awesome!

Les- I do try really hard to to compare myself to ANYONE, I just an so surprised how much I vary all on my own ;) Maybe it's the quality X in me ;) I am pretty sure I am not at all what Sasha means by quality X :)

Thanks Shauna for your kind encouragement!

Marion: Bob Seager and Silver Bullet Band, "Running Against the Wind" also, Accross the Universe version of the Beatles song "Let it Be" These two songs always get me in the right frame of mind for the task ahead.

by the way, the speed will come naturally as you increase mileage, be careful pushing too early. Coach Tom will keep you on track.

Thanks for the music info. Music really helps on dreary Eeyore days :)

I am a pretty good rule follower and am so PARANOID about injury that I will follow the wise counsel of Coach Tom.
