Running- 5.01 miles, 1:03:15, ave 12:38, best 8:24, Laps-12:28, 11:57, 12:07, 11:16, 12:12  We stopped for a potty break and a stretch.

We ran up 6th east and over toward Springlake to the canal trail gate and then back.  It was dark and cold.  My legs felt GREAT.  It was a nice run. Kim R came with me today :D

The following is for future reference.  34 degrees.  I wore thermals and tights on the bottom.  Long sleeve race shirt, long sleeve cotton shirt.  Fleece sweatshirt, ear muffs and gloves.  I took the sewatshirt off.  My neck was freezing at first, but was ok for the majority of the run. I went through a TON of tissue.

Biking- 36 minutes = 3 miles of running.

Wow - you must have been warm! I ran at 5:20 and had on shorts, gloves, a ball cap, long sleeved shirt, arm warmers and a vest.

From leslie on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 10:28:38

I bundled up like Marion! I had a neck gator that helped keep my neck and face warm.

Great 5 mile run for a cold monday morning! I am glad the legs felt good!!!

From Snoqualmie on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 10:33:07

I love reading about everyone's winter running wardrobe (say that 10 times fast). Do you knit? My neck gets cold too (and chin) so I knitted a sort of gator, just a 6 inch tube in a 2x2 rib.

I used to bring tissues, but now I just bring hankies. I learned to "cowboy sneeze" so the hankie is just to... er, tidy up.

Nice run!

From marion on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 15:09:34

i corochet- I am going to make a gator for myself. My chin and neck freeze!!! I lkie the hankie idea too. My tissue ends up falling apart all over the world!

Thanks everybody! It was a GREAT run :)

From Teena on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 15:15:21

Nice mileage in the almost freezing cold!!! You are so tough!!

Hope you are having a great day.

From Kelli on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 18:09:54

I have got to go shopping for this warm weather stuff. i am at a loss, I do not know what I am doing. Do the tights keep you warm?

But, hey, it is going to get warmer this week---back to the perfect running weather.

From marion on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 18:13:31

The tights are VERY warm! :) Fall and spring in Utah- its NUTS!!!!

From Kelli on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 18:19:20

And you just wear them alone, right? I hate tight bottoms! I hope you know what I mean there.

From marion on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 18:41:51

I pm'd you Kelli. The baggier the better, BUT in the winter, the warmer the better!! :)

From Jodi on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 21:24:12

34 degrees today. Brrr. I think our temp this morning was around 60.

From marion on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 21:54:22

Jodi! You are going to make me CRY!!!

From kungfublonde on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 23:02:29

I need to get a running buddy. No one around here can run at all the odd times I can, though... Anyone live in the central valley, California? Anyone want to move here? It's 65* today :) Supposed to be back up in the low 80's next week!

From montelepsy on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 05:54:26

Marion,

Too cold! That's stay in bed weather for me.

Kilo Foxtrot Bravo,

My ankle should be better by Dec and I'll be in the neighborhood. We can run in the cold during odd hours and work on our cowboy sneezes.

Snoqualmie,

What is a cowboy sneeze? Do you shout Yee-hah instead of Ah-choo?

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 08:50:48

I am on my way!!! 65 sound WONDERFUL!!! I love runnnig with a buddie, but I have learned that all buddies, while FAB, are not there for you ALL of the time. It'd gotta be ALL you to get the runs in ALL the time.

Mike- you do not want a description of a cowboy sneeze. YUCK!!! Sno- please don't describe one, I will BARF- seriously! Do you have the picture Mike? I may barf anyway.

From Snoqualmie on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 10:08:48

Re: your crochet... Are you on Ravelry? Meadow (another blogger) and I are both very active in a forum there called "Running With Sharp Objects." Great group of people you might like. www.ravelry.com

Thanks for the e-cookbook, but I want the real thing! It is a work of art, I would display on my kitchen counter to add an element of class! Love it!!! Seriously, it is out of this world!

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 16:40:26

You are welcome adn I will let you know as soon as they are printed. I just thought I'd sen you a copy for a teaser :)

From leslie on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 17:18:21

Thanks Marion! I think he should sell the cover as a print! Your trip to Cal sounds so fun, I didn't realize your dad was a runner, and a FAST one too! Do your parents still live in California?

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 17:30:17

My parents moved to texas and then to Florida and no live here in EAgle Mtn. My dad was one fast dude. He paid for Stanford on track scholarships.

My brother does sell his stuff. He does the most amazing figure drawings. He has a seperate blog for his figure drawings, because they are all nudies ;) Well not all of them. He makes video games for a living.

From kungfublonde on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 18:22:46

Marion- Mike wants to be your brother when he grows up! Makes video games? Mike's dream career :)

Madeline, our younger daughter, wants to go to college on a cross country/track scholarship. Fingers crossed!

And Mike, as romantical as that sounds, no way am I down for any cowboy sneezing. And you leaving me in the dust on runs sounds almost as fun as you kicking my butt at chess or Halo. I think we should just take walks and eat a lot of good home cooking instead. Maybe a nice game of dominoes :)

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 18:46:53

My husband and brother are what we affectionatly call, "vid-iots" They have been playing video games together forever!!! Adam, my bro, is an amazing talent and really loves his job. These guys just play games all day long. He hates it when I say that, but it's true. OK he draws all day too. Anyway, he feels pretty lucky to work with what he loves. My husband, on the other hand, plays video games to forget his job :) This video is exactly how my life is :) (almost)

I am too embarrassed to tell you how many gaming systems we have. We don't watch any tv, and we're all very active. But sometimes Mike and the girls just have to play some Mario Kart. Or Halo 3. Or Guitar Hero. Or Psychonauts. Or wii anything... the list goes on...

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 18:53:19

I feel your pain sister!!! We have every system EVER made!!! Mario cart is one of their all time fav's. Did you like the video from my previous comment? You will relate!

From kungfublonde on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 18:59:55

I can't get the video to run on this computer, so I'm going to check it out on my desktop tonight.

Back in the day I was queen of Pac Man. Then in the late 80's/early 90's I had my "issues" with Zelda and Super Mario Bros. And a couple years ago I relapsed with Mario Kart. But I've been on the video game wagon for almost 2 years now, and this time I'm sure I've kicked it for good!

Besides, while they are all playing video games, I get the computer to myself :)

From marion on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 19:03:45

if you google "tripod make love" You should get it(and a bunch of crap) It at a comedy festival. TOO funny!

From kungfublonde on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 19:15:11

Ok, that had me crying laughing.

I have to go email that to all my fellow x-box widdows now.

From montelepsy on Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 08:05:31

Is your brother single?

From marion on Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 10:28:41

No, he has a beautiful, wonderful wife and 3 darling kids. He even has an AWESOME house and dog too! Did you like the tripod video from above? His wife and I nearly died laughing when he showed it to us!

From montelepsy on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 at 12:48:47

Too bad. I was gonna ask him to marry me.

From leslie on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 at 13:03:52

Okay, I just watched that video, and it was the best! It reminded me of the "Flight of the Concords" is anyone familiar with them?

Too bad Mike that the guy is already married! :)
