The calf feels fabulous this morning.   It's not even sore to the touch.  :D

The fires kept us pretty alert all afternoon and night.  We live about a mile and a half  to two miles from the base of the mountain.  We also live right by the fire department and many of our friends were evacuated from their homes.  I have never seen anything that big and frightening so close to my home.  Some of my kids are having a hard time breathing, so we may head to my moms for the day.  My daughter Ashley is having her swim league finals in a few minutes, so I need to head off for that.  She is mighty speedy.  She usually does pretty well at the finals.  My other kids were in the Bronze and Silver finals Wed and Friday nights.  YES, they are very long and a little on the boring side, if not HOT!  But... Anna (16) took first place in all of her events, Ford's(7) coach took mercy on him and gave him a "Heat Winner" ribbon- which made his little 7 year old day.  You would have thought he had won Gold at the Olympics.  Thank heavens for a compassionate and inspired coach.  At his age, we are just glad that he can make it across the pool alive and without a DQ.  Kate (11) did well last night, but because of the fire and evacuations, things were a little confusing toward the end.  We'll see tonight how it went for her.

Have a great and a safe day!!!

It was fun to hear about your little fishies!!!! I think that is great all your kids swim, I feel sorry for adults that can't and are uncomfortable in water. I had all my kids on swim teams and they are still enjoying it as adults.

I am glad that your calf is cooperating! You need to get it better and join us on a run in fall on the Crest, it was such a fabulous day. It is so cool to look at the mountain range and see that we ran from one canyon to the next!! It makes you feel like super woman!!!!!!

Hey, this fire!!!! I need to watch the news, stay safe and I will be watching your blog for updates, that is SO SCAREY!!! Be CAREFUL!!!

I'm really glad to hear the calf is healing. I hope the stride adjustment works. Just be slow picking up mileage again because you will be using your muscles differently.

Thanks you two! I will be very careful. The doc said he would go trough the return to running with me thoroughly on tues. I really can't believe how good it feels. I told my husband that it felt great and he immediately said, "Don't you dare run on it!" He is usually very reserved and "whatever" and it cracked me up that he would think that I would even consider running on it. I guess he knows me pretty well and could see the "I wanna run on it" look in my eyes!

Your run this morning sounded beautiful! Wow- you girls are lucky ducks!!!

I was wondering if those fires were close to you. Are they under control yet (I have not watched the news)??

GREAT JOB to your kids! That is awesome that they swim like that! I have 4 little fish of my own, but they just like to splash me and dunk each other.

Since I am new (or just returning) to this blog, I just read through all of your July. WOW, what a ride for you. I hope this ankle thing is over soon!! Anyway, you CRACK me up, I am really going to have to come to one of your meetings!!! It might be the motivation that I need.

AND, since I just read through your blog, I would love to do your fake Hobble Creek (I can no longer remember the name you gave it) if you decide to. I hear it is a great run!

From marion on Sun, Aug 03, 2008 at 17:15:46

Yeah- more fake hobblers !!!

Yes the fires were very close and still not out. If you go to my meltingmarion.blogspot.com I have posted pictures. The link is on my profile to the right. Those pics were taken about a mile from my house. VERY scary! Our firefighters ROCK!!!

Fishy children are so fun! I love swim team. THey go at 7 am every day (they walk or ride their bikes) then they are home by 8:15 am. THey all compete sat mornings and we are ususally home by 11am. Swimming is the best sport ever! The ball fields just KILL me. (mainly the fries :) I am so glad they have fallen in love with swimming and not soft/baseball :D
