"You'll accomplish more later if you take some time for yourself"

I got this in my fortune cookie Saturday night at dinner.  I have to keep reminding myself that it is alright to miss Hobble Creek.  I really want to run it.

Is there any way to do it with out hurting myself?  Walk a mile run a mile?  It would take me six hours!  It is really hard to give this dream up.  I have been planning to run Hobble Creek 2008 for almost 2 years.  Anyway... :(

This week the plan is more slow running.  I will for sure, continue the ice baths.  They are truly a miracle... only second to yoga ;)

Great races this weekend, everyone.  I know that some of you were disappointed in the outcomes of your races.  I only wish you could see how amazing you are.  It may seem like a disappointment to you, but, HOLY COW, your running on your worst day is still AWESOME to 99.9% of the entire world population!  The way you think, the way you train, but more importantly, the way you live your lives.  Everyday, I am in awe of what you do, what you can command from your body.  WOW, really WOW!  Bravo to you ALL!

Marion, I think you deserve the Miss Congeniality (spelling???)blogger award!! We love your positive attitude!! Happy running to you and all the bloggers this week!!

With the news of my PF, I had a ww melt down.... I am going to be paying for it for a week now I bet. The self control went down the toliet!!!!

From marion on Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 16:28:47

I can SO relate to melting down! I wasn't kidding about crying a few weeks ago. We work so hard and have come so far. Injury is a slap in the face, or so it feels. The one thing I have learned from it though, is that I really love to run. I really want to! I also learned countless other tid bits! You are going to be fine.

We are ALL entitled to a meltdown every once in a while. You have fun with yours! Go with it. You'll come out of it soon enough. It's not like your WHOLE world has been through the ringer this last month, oh wait, it has! I am cutting your a TON of slack. You have a free pass to do whatever you want! (do all the PF stuff, give your heels a break this week- swim, bike whatever you want, ice those mothers :)

I LOVE knowing you! :)

There's a song in the soundtrack of the movie Garden State that says "there's beauty in the breakdown" that I listen to whenever I have a meltdown... so we have to remind ourselves that it's OK to feel down, while at the same time remember we have so many blessings!

sorry you can't run the 1/2 you wanted to, but I'm sure that you can find a fun race to run instead! Just be careful and don't let your enthusiasm get you in trouble!

From Jody on Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 17:28:28

I completely understand the "meltdown." I missed two of my key races this spring due to injury but felt very strongly that I would rather miss a couple of races then risk permanent injury. It is so hard, but stay focused on the bigger goal and know that you will be stronger in the end.

Thanks Jodi and Lucia :) I know I can't run Hobble creek. What if you guys push me in a wheelchair?

It's all good, and more importantly, FOR my good :)

It's my 18th anniversary today, so I am off to eat some super duper chocolate cake ;D I really can't believe we've been married for 18 years. Our first date was 23 years ago. Boy time flies!

From tarzan on Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 18:49:03

LOL - do you really want someone to push you down a hill in a wheelchair? You probably wouldn't survive.

I know its hard to drop out of race, but I had to drop out of St. George in 2004 with ITB problems and Ogden this year (stupid surgery) - and its worth living to run another day.

From marion on Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 18:52:33

Ok- so the wheelchair is a bad idea.. you can't blame a girl for trying ;D
