I love the overcast days :D  Today the choir I sing with is singing in two different churches today.  I love to sing and I love to sing for others.  Today should be a fun day.  I am going to give away all of the hand dipped chocolates we made last weekend today. ;D  I've got to get rid of them.  Tonight is also the fist night of the Advent.  Davids family calls it Lichtlein.  The Advent is a European tradition where the family gathers for songs and treats the four Sundays preceding Christmas.  We have a special candle holder from Germany that we light.  One candle the 4th Sunday away, 2 the 3rd Sunday away, 3 candles the 2nd Sunday away and 4 lit candles means the Christ Child will be coming that week.  We drink Pero and eat Stollen (a very special German Christmas bread).  The bread alone takes several days to make.  We love to make it but only give it to friends of  ours who REALLY like it.

Anyway- I hope ya'll have a great Sunday.  I'd better get ready for church.

Marion,

It sounds like you have all your Christmas plans set. I think it's great that you sing... I can't carry a tune in a bucket LOL so I have always been envious of those how can :)

It's funny that you drink Pero... I used to drink that as a kid all the time. I loved it. I didn't think you could still get it. My mom was raised by her maternal parents, they were from Germany.

Hi Lori! Walmart has it. I think most of the grocery stores in Utah carry it. Our German relatives from out of state stock up on it when they come to Utah. My kids LOVE it!!! We were out tonight and so we made hot chocolate with milk, cream and milk chocolate chips. It was TASTY!!! ;) What was their name (the germans)? David's mom is from Germany, her maiden name is Goeckeritz. I love all of the German stuff!

Thanks for sharing the lovely German Christmas traditions. Sounds really fun. Do you sing in the Messiah? I love singing in the chorus, have done it for the last few years in American Fork.

no, I have never participated in the Messiah. I have sung several of the songs, though. That sounds like fun. :)

My mothers maiden name is Cummings, but her mother was Nuffer. My husbands mother was Shultz. I think I spelled it wrong.

I love to read about Adventand choir singing. I'm a choir singer myself and no better time that Christmas right? I see you're out there in the cold. Keep it up! I got lazy the week of Thanksgiving, but I wanted to tell you there was a huge sale at Sports Authority on Thanksgiving day 30% off everything, including all the great winter running gear I gushed about....Anyway, I'm glad to see you're doing your thing!
