Nice run today.  KimR came along :)  It is fun to run with a friend :D  The legs were better than yesterday, but still not fresh.  I am wondering if they will ever be fresh?  Maybe I am too old for freshness ;D  Anyway- we left pretty late and that is WONDERFUL!  The weather is so nice.  We got lost running a route backwards so our 4.3 miler turned into 5 miles :)  As soon as I am done blogging I am going to go for a bike ride.  I am going to shoot for 90 minutes of running/biking per day.  So I will be riding for 32 minutes today.  David got my jogger stroller all cleaned up and filled with air, so I will be taking the boys with me too.  I need to figure out how to hook it up to the bike.  I hope I have all of the parts to do it still  :)  For those of you have been blessed to see my carport, you know that a little wheel attachment could be LOST FOREVER!!!

Have a WONDERFUL day!  I love the fall!!! :D

5.01 miles, 58:45, ave 11:44, best 8:24, Laps- 12:39, 11:32, 11:50, 11:09, 10:45

40 min bike riding with the jogger/bike trailer thing attached and a 2 and a 4 year old in tow :D  I think that counts as 3 miles of running, right?  12 min of biking for one mile of running, so 3.3 miles-ish?

60 min of Kundalini yoga - I hate the breath of fire!  I LOVE yoga.  Not my favorite class, but good for me anyway :)  Did I say that I LOVE yoga already!

WARNING--- Introspective post today. What do I really want? I want to see what I can make my body do, after so many years of neglect and abuse. I want to see what kind of shape I can get into, or out of, depending on how you look at it J I have always wanted to be a runner, ever since I can remember. It is only recently that I have been able to find the willingness to put the work in to get there. I realize that I am a marginal runner, by comparison to the many other runners we all know, I just have this nagging feeling inside that I can be better, stronger, faster… yeah, I used to watch the Million Dollar Man :)  But seriously, am I willing to put in the work to take it to the next level? I am committed to running 6 days a week and increasing my mileage. Sasha was saying monday, that I need to increase my mileage as it feels right, as my body dictates. Well, here is the problem, I have ignored my body for so long, that it is really hard to hear it. It says, go faster, it says, sleep in, it says, run more miles, it says never run again. I am sure that as time goes, I will get better at listening and telling the difference between my body and my ego. I already have in many respects. As for my diet- it has improved 100% over what it had been for the previous 18-20 years. But as I have gotten into better shape, I see many more ways that it needs to improve. It feels a bit overwhelming and discouraging, so I will do what I have learned to do thus far- focus on ALL of the really good changes I have made, and build on them. I know now that I can do hard things. I can run, all be it slow. I can make good choices. I can make good choices more often. I can do this! I can take charge of my fitness and see where it leads me! I love the improvements I have already seen. I want to see more. I don’t know what will happen…I guess we’ll see :D

Thanks for sharing, I can relate to alot of what you said. I have run for 12 years now, not fast, and I don't look like a runner at all, still can't get those last 10 pounds off, but Iam happy to be where I am. It is fun to dream about the possibilty of being better, I am amazed at the talented bloggers, but I will never be there. I am happy to plod along and do what I can do. Enjoy the journey Marion, you have accomplished so much with your diet and exersize, and your running is a great pace I think, especially for the short time you have been doing it. You are such a great example to so many people, just keep running, YOUR way!! You Rock!! I think you should plan on doing a marathon in the spring, it will give you a reason to work out thru the winter! Just a thought, I have to have a races on my calender to keep me going. You could use a spring marathon (Ogden) as a training run for St. George! I don't mean to be pushy, but I think you could do it easily!!!! Keep it up! And thanks for all your positive blogs on my page and all the others, you are an inspiration to everyone!!!

From Lucia on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:04:13

Yeah, what Leslie said! You are a true inspiration, Marion! And always so positive and encouraging! Keep up the great work - we'll be here cheering you on and accompanying you on your journey!

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:05:30

Thanks Leslie :) I am planning on a half for the spring and then a full in the fall. I get so over ambitious that I worry about doing too much. I am really thinking about the Provo River Marathon 2009, #1 to be supportive of a local marathon, #2 it's local and it won't include travel -a bit rough with babies ;), & #3 I can train on the actual route :) Want to do it with me? It may be too close to SGM. I am going to put in for the SGM, but I don't want to worry if I don't make it in. I am trying to be flexible and yet functional :D

You are the best and I can't wait to see you on Saturday!! I need to find all of our Lava Lavas. You'll know us at once. Half of them are bright pink with some green and the other half are green and black. We are a frightening bunch!!! (with very cute legs!)

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:06:40

Thanks Lucia! :D You rock!!!

From leslie on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:55:46

I can't wait to see you all in your lava lavas!!!! Hey, when is the Provo River Marathon? I always like to try a new race.

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:57:05

WOW, that was a lot of thinking. But, it sounds like my brain everyday! Know that you are not alone, we are all here with you. My "body" tells me to stop all of the time, but I try to keep going! My body would really like me to sleep in, but I never feel better when I do!

You are truly amazing! You look great, you work hard, and you will get to where you want to be. Patience is hard, but it will happen!!! And we are all here to witness it.

I have to tell you, I quit running last year after the TOU marathon. I hated it so much that I just quit. I ate and I got chubby! And then I felt worse. I started running again in February, and I worked harder than I ever have before. And look at me---I cut 8 minutes off of my half marathon! So, you will be one up on me because you will not quit.

Just keep running, just keep running...

From leslie on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 15:29:34

Thanks Kelli, I needed that pep talk too! Running is not always easy, but after a run, we ALWAYS feel better. I have never said " Oh, crap! I wish I hadn't gone out and run" I am just heading out to run now and I am so excited to go up the canyon, it will be cool and beautiful. You girls are awesome!! Thanks Kelli and Marion!

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 15:34:58

Leslie, you are awesome, too! ENJOY that run up the canyon! It is such a beautiful day!

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 15:38:22

Thanks Ladies :D You are the BEST!!!

The Provo River Marathon is this Saturday, so I imagine that next year it will be the Sat after Labor day too. It is such a pretty canyon!

From MichelleL on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 17:43:39

I gained 18 pounds in three months during Jan-Apr 2007, and after that I wondered if I could ever lose the weight, if I was too old to be trying to lose it, but hard work and consistency always pay off. If you stick to your 90 minutes plan every day you will see much better results than if you do that 3 days a week, so just keep getting out there every day. It gets cold very gradually, but the winter won't stop you if you keep going out each day ("Well, its just a little colder today than yesterday. I can take it.").

The Provo River Marathon is super low key. It would be alright, but I would prefer TOU over Provo River. I'm sure someone in Logan would shack you and your six kids, up, no problem :D

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:12:26

Thanks michelle :) I can not believe that you wern't always the speedy twiglet that you are today! ;) Ok- you give me hope :)

We do have family up north-ish, so TOU would work too. Thanks SO much for all of your help :) I am NOT taking the kids to MY Marathon. I may take my husband, but my sister-in-law took her hubby to Boston with her and he wrecked the whole thing. She is going with her running friends this time. He feels dejected, but he'll just have to get over it :)

From Megan on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:19:02

Hi Marion! Awesome run... I love yoga too:) If you are ever in Cali. please drop in to my yoga class!

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:21:19

Megan- I will FOR SURE!!!

From leslie on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 19:07:57

Michelle's words were very encouraging, I am feeling like the biggest baddest fat lazy slob in the whole world! I am back up to my highest this year, I am at the very high end of the healthy zone ( or whatever they call it at ww) I am up 7 pounds from my lowest point this year. Very discouraging! Next week, I will change my evil ways!!! TOU is right around the corner, I am going to have to kick things into gear!!! AND FAST!!!! waa-waaa-waaa, somethimes you just have to do a little whinning! Okay, I feel better now! I will gird up my loins ( goofy!)

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 19:23:03

Hey Les- one thing that has helped me lately. #1 if I am not running, I must stick exactly to my points budget- no matter what, #2 if I am running, I must eat enough good stuff. I can eat WAY more points if it is whole food. I can hardly get enough :) Funny eh? Crap bad, I can eat plenty of crap to not lose any weight. Anyway- that is just something I have been finding out lately. I am for sure a Core plan girl when I am moving a ton. I FEEL so much better too. I am NOT talking perfection, more of an 80/20 split. I am working toward a 90/10 split. :D I binge too often if I say 100% perfect eating, sad but true :) Hang in there lady! You are SO wonderful!!!

From Leslie on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 21:17:34

Thank you, I need the help right now. Starting Monday, I will be a good little soldier, until then... WATCH OUT!! I just went to Zuppas and had a salad and cream of mushroom soup. It is to die for!!! I appreciate the tips and will take your advice!!!

From laura on Sat, Sep 06, 2008 at 00:37:32

I'm with you, Marion! My body has never yet told me to run again. ;) But I feel so amazed that I'm still running after beginning a year ago; so I hate to lose any progress. (Of course, if you look at my blog - this week has been horrible for consistency!) I'm very impressed with the great lifestyle change you've undertaken!!! 90 minutes is an awesome goal!! With 6 young kids, you truly are amazing to be so dedicated right now. Keep it up. I need to borrow some of your motivation. :)

From marion on Sat, Sep 06, 2008 at 10:19:09

Thanks Laura! Ah Shucks! You are so nice :) You have made my day :D ps- 90 min helps SO much with the kids, I like EVERYBODY better the mroe exercise I do ;)
