Thank you Michelle and Ali for helping us!  Thanks Michelle for your most excellent race coaching!  I learned SO much!  I am going to have to figure out a payment/lure to get this FANTASTIC training from you on a more regular basis- say, like once a month or something?  Do you need service hours? :D

Michelle and Alli came by this morning for a little redemption.  They paced Kim and me on the Onion Day's 5k route.  They got here at o'dark hundred and ran the route first.  Kim and I slept :)  We jogged over to the start.  It was pretty dark, but the stars and moon made it just right.  The temperature was perfect for a run.  My brain has suddenly turned to mush- must eat!

Have a GREAT day!!!

Running 4.4 miles, 40 minutes, ave pace 9:36, best 6:54

Laps-

9:39- this mile felt just fine.  Michelle kept telling me to "shut it!"

9:20- started to get a stitch and be very fatigued.  Michelle started to really coach me here.  I learned a TON about race strategy.

9:35- my legs were numb, all warm and fuzzy, and Michelle was trying to get me to slap her hand and I couldn't make my legs do it, so she slapped my bum :)  I did get one good slap in at one point and another wimp slap toward the end.  Michelle told me to "set my Amazon Goddess free."  All I could think was "the amazon goddess is all tied up in fat and can't get loose." :D lol

:59 (.1) It finally clicked in my brain that no matter how fast I ran, it was still going to be VERY uncomfortable, so I may as well run faster.  Michelle had been saying this the whole last half, but it did not make sense until the very end.

Biking 50 minutes = 4.17  David is home today, so we can go together.  Fun!!!  I can also go further from home.  I don't like to take the boys very far without David, in case something happens.

Yoga 60 minutes

Marion you are THE Incredible Woman!!!

I'm going to use that quote: "No matter how fast I run, I'm going to be uncomfortble, so I may as well run faster" Love it!!!

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 09:37:32

Michelle kept saying that the whole time I was struggling and it didn't sink in until the end :) I'm a bit slow :)

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:07:43

Way to go Marion!!! You are Queen of the amazon women! Great run and excellant effort!

Holy Stinking Cow! Below 30 min for a 5k! you rock!!! Maybe I need to come down there and get in on the training! That is very impressive!! That is a huge accomplishment! Way to go!!

From MichelleL on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:22:39

We can definitely make this a tradition. I'll pace you through any workout you want to do. The only rule is, you've gotta give me five when I tell you too ;)

Great job today! My splits were off the mile markers on my blog, so you may want to take a look at those.

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:47:39

Michelle- I was TRYING so hard to give you five! I SWEAR! I was telling the legs to move, but they wern't listening. I'll get better, I promise. I'll get tougher! My splits were off of my garmin, I'll check out yours. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 10:55:06

i fixed my splits to yours. I liked yours better :)

Thanks Lori, Les and Lucia! My "l" friends! I Love alliteration!

Congrats on the redemption run. You did great. Michelle is a great pacer she paced me for an awsome 5k finish this year. I think you learned the most improtant lesson out of this, I hurts if you run slow and it hurt if you run fast, so you may as well run as fast as you can and get it over with as soon as you can. We will see if I can remeber that the last 6 miles of the marathon.

From Teena on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 13:54:36

AWESOME! AWESOME!! AWESOME!!!

Marion, you are incredible. That was an amazing run ... and such fantastic will power in the end.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!!

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 14:13:00

You are SO going to do that Josse! You will ROCK at SGM.

I learned a ton about mental toughness today. I got an interresting glimps into a "racers" mind. All of my previous races were mainly to finish the race, in the best time possible, of course. But today I saw something different. I never dreamed of pushing that hard for that long. It was REALLY good for me, REALLY HARD FOR ME, but good. You speedy runners run like that in every race! "Race effort" is a nice way of saying you feel like you want to die, but you won't because you've been training and you can handle it! :D

Thanks Teena! :) Good times :)

Nicely done, Marion!

From Jodi on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 18:49:44

You kicked some Onion Day Redemption butt!! You should be very proud. Then added more miles plus biking and yoga.

AWESOME ;)

From Barry on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 19:01:03

Congratulation, that is awesome. Are you pretty tired now? What advice did you get for the race?

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 20:23:13

Yes, I AM POOPED :D The bike ride was pretty tiresome on spent legs.

Michelle helped me to go faster by just using quicker strikes, not bigger strides. The way you take corners is different than I had thought. I need to work on the corner thing. I think my other comments on todays report cover more. I am sure I will remember more when I run tomorrow :) I would highly suggest running as often as you can with an experienced runner who needs an easy day or is just SUPER NICE AND WONDERFUL!!! :) Thanks again Ali and Michelle!

From KellyP on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 23:00:56

Way to go. A 5K in less than 30:00 is a big accomplishment! I look forward to hearing more about the lessons you learned and the success you find when you apply them.

*thumbs up*

From kellies on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 23:01:01

Look at you!! Holy Cow Marion, you are amazing. Way to go!! I am very proud of you. Michelle and Ali are incredible runners. I need to sign myself for one of their training coarses, I could really benefit from it!! Way to go Superstar!!

From marion on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 23:16:28

Thanks Kelly- I am excited to run tomorrow... much slower of course :)

Kellie- Michelle and Ali are AMAZING! They ROCK!!! :D You know the boys have been really showing at the races, maybe we need a girl uprising. Hummmm ... interresting thought.

WOW I have so many Kelli/Kelly/Kellies on my blog today!

MARION!!!!!!!! Great redemption run! You rock. The Goddess has been set free. Now you will setting PR's every time you set foot on the race course.

Great job!!!

From marion on Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 09:31:31

Hey Jon! The whole PR thing is not as hard as you might think- I have only raced in the Onion days thing and the prov 10 miler. So for the next season al least- EVERYTHING I do is a PR :) Cool Eh? Maybe I should change my blog title to THe PR AMazon Goddess! ;D lolololololol (this is an evil lol)

From tarzan on Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 10:36:44

Great job! I wish I could do a sub 30 5K on roads. Tomorrow I head back to the states. I am hoping I can steal the tennis ball I found at my daughter's yesterday to work on my legs on the plane!

Great job Marion on getting your goal time of under 30 min!!! You are lucky to get to train with Michelle. I have tried to talk Josse and Michele into moving down here just so I can run with them (no chance I am going up there, too COLD in the winters, i like the heat!)

From marion on Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 16:00:29

Thanks Marcie! I am very lucky that Michelle is so CLOSE and so WONDERFUL!!! :)

From Kelli on Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 18:12:46

You are so funny!

Good job!
