On Saturday, I am running my first 5k this year, actually since September and I am a bit nervous.  I would love to beat 29, but I am not sure.  My tempo run on Saturday give me some confidence about the whole thing, but I am still not sure.  I will warm up for a mile and then go for it.  I need to work on some goals for the splits.  I can't start too fast, because I need some juice for the last mile.  I am going to have to think on this whole thing.  Any notions?

BTW- I had such a great time last night :)  Thanks SO much!!!

Now those are very strange  splits.  That was not on purpose even at all.  Kim and I ran to Salem and back.  So that means that the first and last miles had the "Beast" in them.  The three middle miles are as flat as it gets around here.

Can I just say that I LOVE IT WHEN KIM RUNS WITH ME!!!  That was the fastest 55 minutes of my life!  Good friends are hard to find and good friends who will run with you are even more rare.

Ooooo... I put an orange in my vanilla protein shake and it was tasty.

Have an AWESOME Monday :)

I woke up at 6:45 this morning and was SHOCKED so I went with it!  I got my shivering self out there and the miles under my belt.  I am supposed to run with Kim today after school, but I had to go with the early run.  She's going to wallop me, but I'll make her some treats and hopefully she'll forgive me.  I really needed a slow run today.  I need slow runs for the rest of the week.  I will do some strides on Thursday, maybe :)  It's Corrine's birthday today (RunningRinny) so I had better get in the shower so I can get up there and party with here a bit today :D

Hey you!!!  A word about my least favorite terrain to run on.  I HATE mud that has been driven on by big trucks, making giant 3" deep tire tracks... and then it freezes that way.  I had to run a quarter mile on that stuff and I am glad I made it out without a broken ankle.   I was kinda pooped on the run today.  It was an up hill/down hill route.  The 3rd mile is hilly flat-ish with that quarter mile of death in the middle :)  I think my new asics hurt my feet.  I am going to look back at other runs and see if it is them.  I fear it is.  I wonder if Steve takes returns on running shoes?

Happy Thursday!  I get to go shop for a formal with my oldest tonight.  I sure hope there is something blue and CHEAP we can find.  I don't have to worry about the modest part.  She wears baggie jeans and hoodies everywhere.  I should say, I hope we can find something she will wear that does not look like a tarp ;)  She is such a cute girl, but she has a major sense of modesty that she did not get from me! ;D

I got to run with Kim and Trisha this morning.  They are SO much fun.  Do you like my speedy down hill stint?  It was very scary!

WHAT DO YOU EAT THE DAY BEFORE A RACE????  I need some ideas :)  Please share your favorites with me :D

happy weekend xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I did not take my Zyrtec last night and I am sneezing up a storm.  I didn't realize I had skipped it until just a bit ago.  That would explain the wheezing and sneezing ;)

Ok- here goes the race report.  I got up this morning after a fit full night of race dreams.  I couldn't find the trail.  I couldn't run the last stretch and had to crawl.  In one Sasha had a huge Afro.  All morning, I could not figure out what to have my race plan be.  I know everyone says go all out for the whole thing, but I think I am going to stick with the more conservative approach.  This is a PR for me on an pretty flat course, unaided.  I did Payson flat with Michelle running along with me and I have done a down hill one at faster times.

My splits were 9:06, 10:02, 10:35/ ave 9:35.16.  I came early and warmed up with Maurine, about 1.8 miles.  It was SO great to have her there!  She is WONDERFUL!  When the race started I stuck with her until I couldn't any more.  She lost me before the turn around.  After the race, she treated me to a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate at Starbucks.  It was SO yummy!  I need to remember that my eyes are WAY bigger than my tummy and just get the small one.  Maybe a small hot chocolate in a large cup and filled with whipped cream to the top ;)  I am not much of an eater after races.  I don't think well either ;)

In two weeks I will run the Onion Days 5k route again so to compare my time from September on the same course.  I will also do this Provo one again too.  I really liked the trail.  Now that the winter is winding down, I am going to really focus on my speed work one day a week.  After six more pounds are gone, I will add one more day of speed work and head into the 40's for my weekly mileage.  I wish I were more driven.  I have learned that when I am more driven, it does not last long, though.  The slow and steady always seems to work better for me.  I just would like faster results!  Duh... doesn't everyone! ;D

I am officially POOPED out and need to keep moving.  I wanted ten miles to day, but the legs aren't feeling it.  After the race, Sasha asked how my legs were feeling.  I said, "They are great and I am off for 5 more.!"  Well, after about .75, my legs made it perfectly clear that they really could care less about my personal plans.  Having Maurine with me for the last ~3.1 after the race helped a ton.  We also stopped by Sarah and Sasha's to say HI!  That was a pleasant break, although I could have just stayed on their sofa for another hour or so!

Have a happy Saturday.  I am making homemade tamales for Sunday dinner.  Wish me luck!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo to you all!!!

I guess I won my age division after all.  I am quite shocked.  There were 5 women in my group 31-45.  I may fall over and die!  I don't think I will believe it until it is officially posted.  Mary Ann, the race director, just emailed me.  HOLY CRAP!!!
