Man am I out of shape!  Oh well.  I need more hours in the day.  Well, just the morning really.  I need two 6am hours.  Then I could swim at 6 and run at six.  It would help a ton ;)  On another random note, I have been sleeping REALLY well since I got home from camp.  Nothing like not sleeping two nights in a row, to make you sleep well :)

I am off to get the exact address for the start of the RHPC 1/2 marathon.  You should have an email from me later today.

Have a GREAT 4th.  Anyone running 8 miles on the Provo River trail at 6:15 tomorrow?

How you like them apples?

goal- 5 mile run with a 3 mile tempo run in the middle ;)

I woke up at 5:30 and slipped in and out of awake for an hour.  I kept dreaming that I went running and missed work, couldn't find my running clothes, etc.  Finally I got up at 6:30 and nearly went back to bed because I was SO tired and did not want to run.  I am not sure how I got myself out the door. Another Festivus Miracle ;)  I did not want to go :(  So, I headed up the canyon road, sure that there was NO way a tempo run was in the cards.  Well, I finally convinced myself that a 3 mile, 12 minute mile tempo would be doable and liveable.  After a 1 mile warm up, I couldn't get my legs to move, so I went back to what Michelle said on one of our runs, "ta, ta, ta, ta," concentrate on your feet turning over more quickly, "ta, ta ,ta, ta."  I sang "Love is Spoke Here," sped up, to match my foot falls.  As you can see by my splits, I really don't tempo well.  I just get faster and faster ;D  I guess I am more of a progressive split runner.  I was really happy to know that my legs still work.  I was beginning to wonder.  My goal is to do speed work every monday.  I want to PR at Onion Days this year in the 5k.

Happy Monday :)

Goal- 20 minute swim, 3.5 mile recovery run

Swam 1000 meters in about 25 minutes.  I had a ~3 minute blab with a friend in there, so the time is a bit off.

Ran 3.5 miles 43:49, ave 12:31, splits- 12:59, 12:58, 11:59, 11:42

It was really hard to run after swimming.  I need to remember to drink, eat AND go potty before running.  I ate and drank, but skipped to potty break :(  The run felt very awkward and sort of like I was running on stilts.  I need some new goggles.  My eyes are crossed for about 5 minutes after I take them off.  I will crash on my bike in the tri.  I am also going to have to figure out clothing.  Do I just wear my sports bra under my suit and then just slap on shorts for the biking and running???  I need to register for the tri today :)

Goal- six mile run down the canyon....

Dreamed I got run over running down the canyon so I scrapped that first off.  Headed up the canyon and... HEAD WIND!!!!  Stiff and annoying.  No zip in the legs.  Canned the 6 miler and came home.  I have hair appointment in 10 minutes :)  I was SO thirsty that I had to find water.  OH and I saw a HUGE snake!  It was at least 4 feet long.  I did the snake song and dance.  It's pretty loud and obnoxious at 6 am in a residential neighborhood ;D

40 minute bike ride with David.  It was SO beautiful!!!!

20 minute swim with David.  I ditched him at 20 and went for my run.  I wore my sports bra under my swimming suit and just toweled off and pulled on shorts, t-shirt, shoes and garmin.  It worked great except my shorts kept sliding down.  No cosmic wedgie with my new swim suit.  We saw Mackenzie at the pool.  She was making a serious wake with her pool running. :)

The swimming is getting easier all of the time :)  Running after swimming is REALLY HARD!  It felt nice to be so cool, though.  I was trying to come up with another speed work out and I came up with it today.  On my thursday run, after swimming, I am going to run the 3.5 at my 1/2 marathon pace. It will be REALLY hard, but this way I can hopefully be able to do that pace on race day :)  There is no way I would be able to do my 5 or 10 k pace.  We'll see how it goes!

I know that Mac has bought some cool red and pink stuff to wear for the marathon :)  Michelle has been to Dirty Joe Punsters for her prize.  This is gonna be SUPER FUN!!!

Nothing today.  My hip was really bugging me last night :(  It has been great for a while now and was quite surprised that it was hurting again :(  I got up and iced it.  It feels ok this morning :)  I have a migraine today too.  Probably from the glare of the rooster! ;D  See y'all in the morning :)  Drive safe and call me if you have any questions :)

Oh my GOSH!!!  I just got an email from a woman who's 3rd great grandfather was owned by my 4th great grandfather.  Her email was VERY nice, but my heart just broke and I FEEL horrible.  I cried for days when I found out that my family had slaves, but to actually receive an email from one of their descendants was very strange and and made my heart hurt.  What do I say to her????

I have SO much to say, but have to head off to the Scottish Festival right now.  We just got home from the ER.  :(  I got a call just as I was finishing picking up the race signs telling me that an ambulance was taking Will, my baby, to the ER with a head wound.  PANIC!!!  He is alright, and I will share more info when I get back tonight :)

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! xoxoxoxoxo  We are doing this race again FOR SURE!!!

****Holy cow!  What a crazy Saturday :)  You can read my novel down in the comments about Will's adventures yesterday :)  We are so blessed that he was okee dokee :)  So on to the race...

After a night of fitfull sleep... the tires blew on my car and Josse and I missed to start :(  ...there was a ghost haunting my home...etc.  I finally got up about 3:50 and took a shower, weird, I know, and headed out to meet Josse at the park at 5:15.  We zoomed around the canyon and route to put up the red glittered RHPC signs and pink cones to mark the course.  We had to adjust things a bit, as Provo was doing some construction here and there.  It turns out that TylerS's company was responsible for all of the mayhem ;)  When we got back, Michelle was there all decked out in red and pink :)  The runners were arriving and things were looking GREAT!  We shuttled off to the start at the mouth of the canyon and we were off :)  I was back talking to Harold (Les's honey and the official photographer) and forgot to start running.  I hurried off to catch Leslie.  Now way back at 0'dark hundred, when I woke up, my tummy was not happy, but I just ignored it.  By about a mile into the run, I was trying really hard to not throw up :p  That has never happened to me before.  Les and I just walked a bit and it went away.  We started to run, and what do you know, nucky tum tum :(  Well, after a bit, I realized that this was a trend that was not going to let up so we turned around and went back to the finish :)  I am SO glad we did.  It was SO AWESOME to see all of the runners come in!  Especially MACK!!!!  She pulled it out and won the beloved VERY EXPENSIVE SUPER TACKY- (ugly really) RHPC Rooster!

This was such a fun race!  Everyone brought the COOLEST prizes to exchange.  The food was the BEST ever at the end of a race.  The runners were the most BEAUTIFUL women and handsome men in the UNIVERSE!!!  We are SO doing this again!

THANK YOU ALL!!!!  Be sure to sign up for the 5k in Spanish Fork the first Saturday in August.  Seesuerun's brother died a few weeks ago and left a large family.  This 5k is to benifit him.  I think Kelli has info posted on her blog :)  Let's make sure the RHPC (and dude's) are there to support her and her family :)

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

This picture just cracked me up!  Here is Luz, LONGING for the coveted RHPC rooster ;) You can just hear her thoughts, "Mac, you are going DOWN next year!"

"THE ROOSTER IS MINE!!!!"  Congratulations McKenzie :D  You are the Queen of the RHPC!!!

 ...or is it Tyler????

The swim felt great today and so did the run :)  My arms and abs are sore from all of the sit ups and push ups.

I am off to the showers and then to make burp cloths for my sisters new little baby.  She is only 6 pounds.  It's like holding a little bean.

Oh, as I type I am drinking a protein shake with watermelon, celery, flax seed and lime.  It's pretty tasty :)

Maybe this will keep Will safer ;)

Push ups, sit ups, yard work.  I did not get up this morning.  I had a dream that David never married me.  He refused :(  He went off with some "nice" girl and married her :(  In the dream he could tell what a crappy wife and mother I would be and chose to go with a nicer, better girl.  You'd think after nearly 19 years of being married and more than 24 years of being together, I'd get over these subconscious fears.  I guess not.  It took me a while to wake up and realize that it was just a dream.  Needless to say, we went and saw the movie he wanted to go see last night ;)

This past week has been a bit nuts/crazy/busy/down.  I didn't get a run on Friday or Saturday.  David wanted to know why I was screaming at everyone like a mad woman by noon on Saturday.  I finally reminded him that I had not run in 2 days.  He said, "Oh...."  I will not skip a day again.  Things have gotten a bit topsy turvey around here, so if I am going to be able to run, it is going to have to be at 5:45am :(  The plan is to swim from 6 to 6:20 and then run 4-6 miles.  I can bike tues, wed, & thurs nights with David after the kids go to bed.  Will's head cracking, and a few other things, have me really worried/upset/nervous about being gone too much.  I have been doing my sit ups and push ups everyday :)  I felt my arms the other day and they feel different :)

Five mile run on the canal trail again.  Unfortunate VPB :(  Thankfully there was a sunflower plant with nice leaves :)  They work really well ;)  Also the water level was high enough in that spot that I could wash my hands ;)  Good time!  Too much information????

I am off to do the laundry and my push ups and sit ups :)  I may even go for a bike ride tonight with the Dough Boy!

I am a REAL runner now!  I did not think I got any blisters from the marathon... but alas, I did.  I have found 4 so far.  My feet are SO leathery and HARD that the blisters were nigh undetectable until yesterday.  They were pretty big, on the balls of my feet.  I guess since they never hurt me, they may not count, but heck I HAVE BLISTERS!!! ;D  I think the swimming has made them noticeable :)  I'm a dork, right, for thinking that is cool, eh???

Is is possible to bonk at 3 miles??? I was going along feeling quite good. The effort was a solid 6 on a scale of 1-10. I was not doing my steam train breathing at all and ALL OF A SUDDEN- CRASH!!!! It was like someone poured some quik set cement down my legs. Crazy! I am glad I decided to bring my fuel belt that had some gu in it and that I brought 2 waters along. I was planning on a 10:30 tempo run, and it was looking good.  Oh well.  Yesterday I felt weird all day.  I was STARVING the whole day and FREEZING cold.  I also have been having the weird vpb's on my runs this week (one today too).  I did sleep in this morning and skipped my swim, in order to be better prepared for the tempo today.  I am guessing that my metabolism must be a bit off kilter (the starving and cold yesterday).  I don't think I am sick at all.  I have been having tons of migraines for the past 5 weeks.  My hormones must bo out of whack or something.  My dreams have been crazy too.  That is probably it.  Good times!

Will bike tonight.  Wanted to run this morning, but due to an unexpected funeral, I had to be at work by 7:30 :(   Maybe I will go try Turbo Jam.  I have had them for a while but have not had a moment to try it.  I am going to do that right now :)  FUN!

push-ups and sit-ups later today too :)

Booty Jam was AWESOME!!!  Yes, I did a workout called Booty Jam!  I asked David if my bum looked perkier and he said YES!! :)  Tomorrow I will try another of the Turbo Jam family.  I am sure I looked like a FOOL, so I will stick with the videos and my family room.  There was one girl on there who has 7 children.  Geeze, to even look 1/2 that good would be SO COOL!
***4 miles this evening :)  LOVED it!  I am guessing that my running legs are back!  It has taken me a lot longer to recover from the marathon that I thought it would.  My goal for tonights run was to run 12mm after the warm up.  That worked out great.  The last mile, I just figured that I felt great, so just go with it.  It also helped that one of my 17 year olds friends was running on the other side of the street.  She was trying to smoke me.  I kept right on her heels until finally, after about 3/4 of a mile, I OLD SPICED HER!!!  She even cut through the park, and I still beat her.  Life is good!  I am complete!!!

Nasty tummy issues this morning.  I am hoping for a quick recovery so I can run tonight and do some yoga later.

OH OH OH- remember the email I recieved a few weeks ago from the grandaughter of my g,g,g,ggrandfathers slaves?  Well, becasue of the will that she sent me, I have found 70+ new family members that I did not have before.  It's pretty darn cool!  I love Family History!!!  The neatest part is that you can feel the love that they have for eachother and how happy they are when you find their families, especially their little babies who died.  Good times!!!

OK- so I have some confirmation of an idea that was sparked by a comment that Sarah(FastRunningMommy) made.  When I first started running, BB (before blog), my goal was to be able to run 3 miles 5 days a week, and 6 miles on Sat.  Once I got there, I would work on getting all of those miles to 10 mm before I would increase my miles.  Well, Sarah had said something about that style of training being a theory of Sasha's for increasing speed.  I need to PM him for clarification.  Secondly, I was reading a comment made about a runner who had been noticing that after all of her speed work, her recover jog was consistently faster than her easy jog day pace.  The response by Sasha was, if I understood it correctly, was that if the recovery jog was consitently that faster pace, it would be safe to run the easy jog days at that pace.  Again, I need more clarification.  What do y'all think???

So, taking both of those things to heart, and considering my personal training and the fact that I am NOT GETTING FASTER, I am going to implement both of those theories.  Whenever I have done speed work, my recovery pace is always in the 11's.  So, after a mile warm up, I am going to run between 11:30-12mm for a month and see what happens, injury wise.  Also, I am going to keep my miles in the 30's, where I know that I am pretty injury free, for a while as I work to increase my pace.  In a month, if I am still injury free, then I am going to consider upping that pace to between 11-11:30.  It is all working itself out in my head.  After two months, I will keep the easy jogs at that pace and resume the tempo work one day a week and see what my recovery pace levels out at.  My big thought is that I am just really comfy where I am, and am not pushing myself.  This trial should show me if I am being lazy or am really running at a pace that keeps me injury free.  If I have to run slowly to keep injuries at bay, than so be it.  BUT, if I am lazy and need to pick things up a bit, then this experiment should show that :)  Here's hoping I am LAZY!!!

What do you think, REALLY, I am curious????

2+ mile walk with the AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL Michelle.  It was so fun to go for a walk with Michelle today.  We went a bit too far... oops, but she seemed GREAT!  I love that I can keep up with her for a bit here until she is back in the saddle again :)  Heck, I'll take it!  In the past when she has run with me, I can't talk at all cause she is KICKING MY BUM.  Since I could talk today, I TALKED HER POOR EAR OFF! ;)  Thanks Michelle!  You are the BEST!  Oh, and for any readers out there, Michelle is putting on a 5k and bike race in Woodland Hills on the 22nd of August.  It should be SUPER FUN for the whole family!!! :)  I wonder if she will have an AMAZING and beautiful Rooster for a grand prize???  I may have to donate one ;)  MACK- before you even think of it- YOU CANNOT DONATE YOURS!!! ;D

2.8 miles, 32:22/11:33 ave , Splits-11:32, 11:34, 9:16 (stop light ;p)  Having already warmed up, I just went straight in to the 12mm thing.  The swimming really poops me out!  The pool is only open for another month, so I will be really curious to see how my running changes once I am not swimming anymore.  Mile one was pretty comfy, mile two was OK and mile 3 (.8 ;) was tiring until the end.  I would have liked to go 2 miles more, but I needed to get home so Anna could head off to pipe practice :)

Smooth, you are a genius!  I packed all of my stuff yesterday after your comment and you know what?  When my alarm went off- I swore at it- turned it off, rolled out of bed, said my prayers and off I went :)  Yes, people with potty mouths pray! ;D  Anyway- the swim was great and is getting easier and faster all the time :)  The run was not bad at all today :)  I ran on the canal trail/dirt road for half of the miles.  It was a bit slow, as I had to traverse and navigate a sea of rocks and pot holes.  My last two miles were on the road and it shows.  The first mile and a quarter was on the road too :)

I hope you all have  a GREAT day :)  I am not sure what I will do today, it's kinda open, which is very nice :)  Friday and Saturday are the rest of the league finals.  Fordy took 11th in freestyle, 3rd in breast stroke and 6th in back stroke.  He's such a cute little fish :)  That little boy could swim before he walked.  At the pool he used to scare the crud out of the life guards that did not know him.  As a matter of fact, Ford's first love was Chizel (new to the blog).  She was a life guard at our pool and he would just stare at her when he wasn't under water.  He has such great taste :)

Adventures at Michelle's on a Thursday night in July :)  See what happens when I have an afternoon free???  I am not sure why we wasted all that money at BYU, I should have gone to beauty school... but wait- I did this fabulous job with NO training what so ever ;)

This is the fancy up-do we came up with :)  Doesn't she look HOT??!!??

This is "Fluffy" the cat.  Fluffy is a bit more "fluffy" than Michelle would like to admit. (Fluffy is FAT!!)

Here is GORGEOUS Michelle with her fabulous new red hair!  Paul just LOVES it!! :)  I REALLY looks GREAT!!! :D

Now that my boys have spent an evening with Michelle's boys, they want to have a sleep over, play dates and MOVE next door.

PS- I want to move next door too.  Michelle's home is BEAUTIFUL and I love her neighborhood :)  Plus I could sled down her driveway and Ben could make me cookies!

 1:00:00 for 5.21 miles 11:30 ave, splits- 12:58, 11:37, 11:28, 11:16, 11:08, walked for the last mile :(

I saw my first fox :)  It was VERY exciting :)  Every thing was GREAT today until I came off of the canal road and there is that VERY steep down hill for a 1/2 blockish.  Well, my ITB just had a FIT!  I ran for about another mile and then had to walk.  It quit being SO mad after walking for a 1/2 block, so I ran again and YELP!  It did not like that, so I walked the rest of the way.  I stretched it and am icing it as I type.  Any ideas?  It is my right side.  My hip flexors and ITB have bothered my right hip forever and a day, just never in my knee before.  Too many miles?  Too much speed? (Don't laugh at my "speed")  What should I do tomorrow?  I only had 6 planned.  Maybe just 4 flat?
